That’s a shame but there’s a bit of football fatigue going on this season.

He has been decent, though. Inconsistent at times, yes, but so has the entire team. What’s strange is how his good performances this season either get brushed aside or, even worse, twisted into something negative- “he’s only turning up against certain teams to force a move.” It’s a bit unfair, to be honest. I do feel for him.

NUFC fans can be wildly reactive; eg. Tonali’s a Rolls-Royce one week and apparently an uninterested dosser the next. Woltemade is the best striker signing this summer after a good start and now he’s useless and should be sold. Not just us like this though, that’s football. Except Gordon doesn’t even get the swing. He just gets dunked on regardless.

I think it’s more that we prioritize athleticism rather than actively seeking out less technical players. The reality is that players who combine top-level technique with elite physicality usually attract bigger, more glamorous clubs than us unfortunately.

Used to be funny when it was Tiote or Schar from halfway but wish they’d pack it in.

It’s also strange that some fans complain “so and so isn’t playing with any confidence”, then loudly pile on. Yes, everyone has a right to grumble, but it surely doesn’t help any player find their form. You’re just feeding the cycle imo.

He was just answering Rooney’s question, and the interview actually came across more positive than it reads. FWIW, I’m confident that with a bit more time training under Howe, he’s going to be a really good player for us. The lad started the season looking excellent; it’s sad that some people are already writing him off.
