I’m not entirely sure I understand the question, but if I had to guess why Aramco rather than PIF, it’s probably because Aramco isn’t technically state-owned, it’s a listed company, whereas PIF clearly is. Likely better from an optics point of view. I mean F1 already runs on oil money anyway and this partnership would be less politically charged (sportswashing!?) and seen as more commercial than political.

Sela seem to be absolutely hemorrhaging money so it’s hardly a shock if PIF rotates the sponsorship to another portfolio company next time. It’s also an easy way to give a new venture instant exposure. If it’s another PIF name, my bets would be: RIA (Riyadh Air), ROSHN, Ceer Motors or possibly the Saudi Investment Bank if the rebrand rumours are true.
