  1. Most of these complaints about London are basically general complaints about life in a very large city. You could repeat most of them for New York, for example.
  2. Petty as it is, it would be hard for me to get past Adams' IG post after we played them.
  3. It's incredibly unlikely but from a fee/wages standpoint I'm assuming we could make it work. If you listen to that podcast with Jamie Reuben he talks about how there isn't a set amount of money that will be spent. Positions and players are prioritized and a case is made for each. If we think there is no single player that could transform us more then it could work. We'd have to sacrifice elsewhere most likely. For example, maybe that means we don't upgrade at LB for next season or maybe it rules out Dom and we get a younger, £30M player for that position or maybe it means we have to sell Maxi. There are definitely ways to make the numbers work for a 24 year old England international. Convincing him to leave London and come here over someone like Arsenal is a far bigger hurdle.
  4. Aside from wages and location you've left out something that should matter and will to some players -- a better manager with a track record of improving players. If Maddison has England ambitions this should matter. The con for a player is it's probably known you can't just show up to Newcastle for a paycheck. Eddie is going to make you work.
  5. He doesn't really need to learn English living in Miami. Pretty sure something like more than half the population speaks Spanish.
  6. Agree about land costs. I'm just saying PIF is not going to fund a bog standard bowl or terrace stadium built as cheaply as possible. They'd want it to be a symbol of their project, a stadium guaranteed to host World Cup or Euro matches if England were to host, and likely a UEFA Category 4 stadium that could potentially host European finals. So I don't think the equation is SJP expansion vs. SoL/Leicester costs. It's more like SJP expansion vs. Tottenham Stadium (minus London land / construction costs, but potentially bigger and, at least in some ways, better).
  7. That's a very shitty outcome when they are changing the price of your current seats by so much.
  8. If there's one thing I'm confident about it's that if we did build a new stadium the ambition would be to build one of the greatest stadiums in the world, so while a stadium could maybe be built on the cheap that is almost certainly not the approach we'd be taking.
  9. I'm halfway through and these two hosts have the worst accents I've ever heard. What is this?
  10. Romano has been saying all along it's less than was being reported. He says it's £35M now. Could also be a case of various add-ons giving everyone different numbers and all of them technically being right.
  11. It’s very cool seeing the Newcastle crest on something like this.
  12. Would have been ridiculous if this were 20 years ago and there were no rules on spending.
  13. I think growing the game in the country and then getting a World Cup is the aim. But after today I'm a little worried another goal is the LIV model of attract enough talent to get the necessary leverage to take over the sport. Obviously much more difficult in football than golf for a lot of reasons.
  14. I honestly can't blame any of these guys for taking nine figure annual salaries (or anything close to it). It's wealth on a complete different level from the already huge money in the game. But I have to imagine many in and around football are starting to follow these Saudi clubs out of sheer interest in what's happening. Doubt it means anything.
  15. How would old domestic rivalries be unaffected with only 14 English teams in the top flight? The Manchester and North London derbies would be the only ones you could count on. I'm with you that it feels like a major shakeup could be coming and it might actually succeed if it's backed by enough money. Hopefully the new CL model is enough to keep everyone happy and PIF remains interested in us / focused on helping a Saudi WC bid so they don't try to LIV football.
  16. My wife ordered me a couple things last week that were on sale and they arrived in America 48 hours later. Not really sure how that happened.
  17. What’s the price of a season ticket in the Gallowgate end?
  18. Not sure how you can say it was always going to happen when the entire golf world is stunned at the news.
  19. I agree it's certainly not guaranteed. Most teams who build a new stadium raise prices, partially to help pay for it.
  20. The first one is referencing the second. The second appears to be the original, but no idea what the track record of that account is.
  21. You could argue that in a bigger stadium there's more opportunity to keep a subset of tickets more affordable. In a smaller stadium every seat may need to be maximized for revenue (especially if demand remains high).
  22. Those are incredible and we get to stick a Champions League badge on them.
  23. Apparently the PGA Tour players knew nothing about this. A shock to all. Here's our chairman on US TV: https://twitter.com/KylePorterCBS/status/1666092974944710658
  24. I think more than anything it adds legitimacy to PIF in the world of sport.
