  1. I understand your point, but it's not about this one cup match vs. one PL match. Everyone could play both if necessary. It's about managing the whole season, resting our most used/important players when possible, getting minutes for lesser used players, etc. We have to rotate and there may not be a more obvious option for rotation all season.
  2. The two of them have played an incredible amount of football in the last 15 months with very little break and both expend an incredible amount of energy when they play. They, and particularly Bruno, cannot play every game. If we can't confidently rest a couple players against a L2 side at home then I don't really know what to say.
  3. This is it. It’s not NUFC supporters or football fans. People struggle doing anything outside of their home without documenting it.
  4. From Opta: This 1-1 draw ended a run of 14 consecutive Premier League games in which Manchester City had scored multiple goals; that was the joint-second longest such run in the competition’s history (Liverpool 15 between March and September 2019).
  5. Is that league only? From memory the only losses at home since February 1, 2022 are: Liverpool x3 Arsenal City Milan (chasing a goal) Dortmund The Chris Wood Boxing Day Massacre

    Lewis Hall

I was terrified of him in the team today because I’m not sure he’s ever played a game at LB without at least one or two disastrous moments where he’s caught out. He was outstanding today and I love that we had him on corners. There will likely be more growing pains, but I’m a lot more confident now that he’s going to adapt and learn faster.
  7. It’s fair to say we caught a break with who they were missing. But we were missing our starting striker (who might be our single best player), our backup striker, and a starting CB, so I’m certainly not going to use that to diminish our performance or the result.
  8. He just told us that’s not the case.
  9. Would have signed up for all of the first half stats minus their goal. Frustrating.

    Romano's latest report is it's for 6 years (2030). That's why I said that.
  11. The odd thing is Foden has been the odd man out recently. And he played 90 min against Watford in the LC. Think it might be Kovacic, Silva (our nightmare), Gundogan, Savinho, Doku/Grealish, Haaland.
  12. I have to say, I did pause and rewind 2x Eddie's comments about the owner's ambitions. One the one hand he was just kind of listing things ("new training ground, stadium, etc."). On the other hand it kind of seems like he caught himself...
  13. Good news straight from the manager's mouth... "There's definitely been no shift in what we want. No, far from it. We want to step it up and improve it, so there's no part of us that's trying to retreat and become more reactive. So no, but then you look and our ability to do that hasn't been of the levels it's been in previous years and there's been a whole multitude of reasons for that. It's not maybe as simple as people think and I've been trying to manage that behind the scenes with the squad. But longer term I've got no doubts we'll get back to that style. Yeah, very quickly is of course the ideal." It is quite clear that he is feeling disappointed and let down by some key players.

    Paul Mitchell

From near the end of Eddie's press conference: Edwards: How refreshing is it to have a press conference and no\t be asked about your relationship with Paul Mitchell? Eddie: (laughing) Well you've just ruined that Luke, so thank you. But everything's good, thanks for asking.

My guess is we pulled a bit of a Chelsea and got him to agree to lower wages than he was originally thinking in exchange for a sixth year.
  16. Eddie let loose today. I'd venture to say this is the most disappointed he's ever been with this squad. "I think the players know - they are very honest with themselves as well. They know that last week wasn't good enough so that internal reflection can be really healthy and sometimes a performance like that can be actually healthy for the long term if you use it in the right way." “It was one of those games where we analysed it a lot and we took away a lot from it to try and implement into our game. We didn’t like ourselves (and there was) some honest conversations this week so hopefully we'll respond. We always need to deliver. There's always that pressure but I do think we have a responsibility to show our true selves, to turn up and give our best. Last week was not a great reflection on our style or way of playing. We need to learn from it and come back stronger. We need to step up this weekend.” "There's been a real re-focusing this week on how we train. The standards that we deliver in our training ... we have to stay on top of the small details." On having the points but lacking the performances: "I'd probably take that way at the moment where we've got the points but haven't performed because I know the quality's there, I know the individual ability is there, I know the collective spirit's there, but it's time to show it." "Your collective performances are always defined by the individuals within it, so if your individual players aren't performing you're going to suffer, especially if they are in the important areas on the pitch that make the difference...everyone has a responsibility to try to be at their best in every game. We need people to step up within the team and that will have a galvanizing effect within the group." "I think I would know given a blank sheet of paper and [you] say "write down what you think your best team is" I don't think that would be difficult for me, but the problem is you've got to justify your selections so those players have to be in their best moment, their best form. And what you can't do is pick that team if it doesn't deserve to play ... I think we're in that moment where early season players haven't been in their best form ... and we're at that stage now where I'm going to have to make some difficult decisions."
  17. I guess the interesting thing in there is the 19 other clubs don't know the result yet.
  18. Even worse. Need to start an @Kanji campaign.
  19. I'm possibly making some bad assumptions as maybe they take it very seriously, but is that person going to care about anything to do with the city, the history, or the financial ramifications of this decision and how it impacts our ability to compete? Or are they only going to care if they can get tickets when they want them? I guess you could apply that same question to everyone on the FAB, but it pisses me off that one of the people speaking directly to the CEO on this is someone who probably showed up to Peter Dillon's in December 2022 to drink beer and watch the World Cup, decided it was a fun time, and then took an online quiz about which PL team they should support.

Great news about the contract. Hopefully that gives him the pick up he needs. I'm going to be very annoyed if we give him a big increase and he's still strolling around the pitch and not trying to win the ball back.
