Its absolute crazy money.. some of the prices quoted for players is getting ridiculous. They don't need to sell him (he just signed a new contract last year) and probably don't want to. He's scored over 20 goals in the past two seasons and, if not replaced properly, could be the difference between being in a relegation battle or not. Seems reasonable from Watford's perspective when you put all that together.

Have a number of Newcastle shirts from the last 20 or so years, both home and away. Also have 5 or 6 England shirts. Some random ones I have (most of which I got as a kid and don't fit me anymore): http://cdn1.uksoccershop.com/images/cache/Leeds-United-1994-Score-Draw-Home-Shirt-314x0.jpg http://68.media.tumblr.com/18a3492e5015877506c2e93f6eda8dda/tumblr_ns21kfBa6T1rtjl8do1_500.jpg The shirt I don't have that I'd like the most is the England Euro '96 away with Shearer on the back.

I always wondered why NFL teams didn't have shirt sponsorship, or other things like pitchside advertising but when you look at these numbers and stack them against the amount of money coming in through the TV deals you realise that it's all kind of peanuts. I would imagine the NFL sells it's TV rights based upon an advertsing free product, where the broadcasters can chose whom they partner with, like the Verizon red zone or the tools to the success presented by Home Depot. It's a whole different approach, I wonder if the PL will eventually go down that route themselves. You're going to see jersey sponsorships become the norm in the NBA before they start coming off PL shirts. And once the NBA does it you'll likely see the floodgates open with the other American leagues. No. It's already in MLS. Maybe NHL. Will never happen in baseball. Not needed in the NFL. MLS doesn't count because it's the global norm in the sport. I didn't even realize when I posted the above, but six NBA teams announced yesterday they will have corporate patches on their jerseys next season. When you say "not needed in the NFL," are you referring to the gobs of money they already make? Since when has that stopped them milking anything they can for every last penny? And now that they may actually commit to shorter commercial breaks to improve the flow of games they are going to be looking for new revenue sources. Their (the NFL) TV money deal runs through 2022, they won't be scrambling any time soon. Also I think there would be a huge fan outcry if sponsorship was put on uniforms. Which some may snidely question, given our American unblinking acceptance of it everywhere else in daily life. It's seen as some kind of last bastion of purity though. Won't happen in our lifetimes. Never said the NFL would be "scrambling," just that they will be looking to maximize every potential revenue source. The purity thing will definitely come up in baseball, which is why I'm not as sure there, but generally speaking when do any of these leagues really care what fans think? Unless you're about 97 years old, I disagree that this won't happen in our lifetimes.

It's May 15 and I'm already sick of people being surprised by transfer fees. Depending on what year you want to travel back to just divide every number you see by something between 3 and 6.

I've posted on them before. Right the top few teams separate off, halve their points, only play on Mondays and double points if there's a full moon type system. Pretty sure the goals are invisible and refereeing is by popular vote. Just went down a Wiki hole trying to work out what in the f*** is going on. They have playoffs for Europa League places that include teams from the 2nd division, but exclude everyone in the top 6?? So if you're in the top 6, and make the Champions Playoff thing, but end up finishing last, you don't get s***. Where as 3rd place in the 2nd division might make the Europa League?!? class. Was just digging into this. The winner of the 'playoff 2' plays a "final" against the 5th place side from 'playoff 1' for the Europa League spot. Still doesn't make sense - why wouldn't 5th just get it? or 5th play 6th?

On the pitch? Justin Lockwood. Wasn't he the radio announcer for the 4-4?

Fucking fantastic news and this board immediately starts counting pennies and worrying it's not enough. The pain will come in January and beyond. Until then, enjoy the ride. There's a reason Rafa ended with "I wish the fans an enjoyable summer!" Relax, have fun, he's got this.

The first goal Some class play from Atsu in that first half as well. Really nice - definitely seems like Atsu has been playing for his future the last few weeks.

Seriously? Why the fuck didn't this exist this season?

Not sure if this is anywhere else, but this sounds legit and bad: http://www.spiegel.de/international/business/rape-allegations-against-real-madrid-star-ronaldo-it-has-to-be-less-a-1144878.html

They essentially have to win every remaining game. They are gone.

Two absolutely terrible rumors. Not even trying.
-
If he's backed sufficiently, he'll be here. I think it's simple as that. Ashley has gotten a lot of things wrong, but I'm confident that a) he understands what he has in Rafa and b) he knows we're heading right back down without investment. I'm not actually that worried about this summer in terms of Rafa getting what he wants. It's next January and beyond where this is likely to end badly at some point.

Newcastle United lose Judicial Review against HMRC

I do hope this extends far beyond us. Would greatly lessen the chances we are made an example of by the PL/FA. -

Think they'll be quite let down at the moment that this is centered around Marseille too. Not as juicy as CRISIS ON TYNESIDE. -
Not at all, mainly because anything I watched was on shitty, illegal streams and there are way too many non-televised games. Also, after any setback this place was on suicide watch. The LC run was fun, the Brighton/Huddersfield week was fun, and yesterday was enjoyable. Beyond that, good riddance to the Championship and give me all 38 games in HD.

Newcastle United promoted back to the Premier League

This fucking place. -
You think Spurs are going to finish 5th or lower?

If we don't back Rafa he'll go and the presence of Gouff and Colback will be the least of our concerns. This is how I feel:
