Yep - same goes for me. They'll already have full stadium plans drawn up and my suspicion based on such events is that the requirements of the traditional football fan will be bottom of the list in favour of caviar, heated seats and a Gucci store Give us (WorFlags) a pulley though and yous can all pay £2k a match...

Just one final point before I piss off to sleep and stop irritating folk by quoting everyone I think it could also be deemed a little ignorant and patronising for folk to also claim that those wanting to stay are simply looking through rose tinted glasses at the past too. So swings and roundabouts a bit. Ultimately, we are all passionate about the subject as we want what's best for Newcastle United or our chances of supporting them in person... I'm sure there's no malice intended anyways. Personally speaking- I treat SJP a little like I would my own home(s). It has memories, good and bad times, history, comfort, all of the emotional attachments and tradition of a match day attached to it. I accept I'd move home if I needed, but not without a heavy heart and full understanding of the benefits. I'd be surprised if that's not the case for everyone...

That's fair. I know what you mean. I just think there are other pieces to this puzzle I'd like to see before being so ready to jump ship. World class training facilities, a world class academy, continued investment in the first team, to name a few. But the latter is why we're pushing a new stadium first and that is largely down to the FFP and PSR for me which is currently up in the air.

Aye, apologies. I've started posting more over the last year or so on here - or certainly since the takeover but only in topics I really care about so to speak. So have been reading a lot of the debate in here. Apologies for the multiple quotes folk - just interesting to read. Very valid points on both sides to be honest. The reality is we're getting a new stadium whether we like it or not

Not sure where this 1 in 5 chance thing comes from tbh. Are you referring to 1 in 5 members versus ST holders? Cause speaking from my match going friendship group it's more like 9 in 10 get to the game.

And yet that last line is partly why folk aren't so certain to simply jump ship. Revenue means we might be able to spend more but it's not proven to be the definitive answer to all our problems. Comparing Spurs revenue to Newcastle at all over the last 2 decades is somewhat skewing the debate too given Ashley absolutely drove our revenue into the ground. Otherwise, despite me not really agreeing this is also well debated though so fair play.

Arsenal are one of the top successful clubs in this country throughout history. They play in London. That is enough for players to want to play for Arsenal and tbh I doubt players consider a nice swanky stadium in their motives for playing for a side. They will consider the atmosphere and their training facilities and the place in which they'll live. That and obviously their chances of success. Which will always be there at clubs like Arsenal unless they serious fuck up. Dare I say it, I actually don't mind Arsenal - It's Arteta I cannot stand. I also think those at the club have a vested interest for building a new stadium. It's their legacy. Why wouldn't Saudis want to build their own absolutely phenomenal stadium? I mean they're spending a fuckload on this, they'll want to do as they please...ultimately. All we're seeing now is an extended PR play to soften the blow. They have known what they were gonna do for ages... I suspect.

And it's been built on the success of decades of football. As much as I hate the twats.

Doing this already, even when the cards aren't good

I like gestures...

Cannot remember exactly tbh mate but pretty sure that folk in Government kinda cut off routes for the PL to block it albeit indirectly as did the PIF with the Bein shitshow and eventually the PL just ran out of ways to weasel themselves out. The same is happening now. They're just a farcical organisation tbh.

One of the big issues for other events such as music gigs was because the Milburn and Leazes roof (underneath the stand) was too low and therefore machinery and vehicles had to stop at the NW corner and a lot more manual labour was incurred as a result, further resulting in additional costs. This is why the Stadium of Shite is used by those who don't know the area. That could be raised - I suspect. Other sporting events surely can occur there assuming that they'd a) be when we aren't playing there and b) they didn't require larger pitch space (assuming something like NFL is what we'd be aiming at here and therefore - to my knowledge - we couldn't achieve this). Frankly though - I don't particularly care If it's any exercise in bringing people from all over the world to our wonderful city then I understand. If it's to extend our financial capability as a football club, I understand. Other than that - I really don't care. It's our footballing home. If Newcastle (and I know the obvious response here) is successful or has a good side without the need for those things then honestly I'd rather stay home (SJP). The fact we'd have to spend billions on a new stadium and boost our revenue and pay for said expansion before we develop our squad to compete (potentially) is all a bit strange to me tbh. It shows how horrendously shit the current rulings are. All this nonsense about protecting clubs heritage and community and yet clubs like Newcastle have to move stadium to keep up with Jones (?).

As a resident in Killingworth it'd be double cush for me like.

I mean not entirely accurate but appreciated the humour (and point of this post)

Mike Ashley was a massive spatula. Sorry. Just had to get that off my chest when he was being discussed.

It isn't I agree. But even with existing rules in place it is about "the rich" remaining "the rich" without the ability to be challenged, albeit in spending power not money in the bank. A free for all is better than a closed shop, so to speak.

This is pretty much as simple as it can be said (to my understanding) and you're absolutely right. What a peculiar outlook on sport these clubs are taking... Imagine in the film Gladiator when Maximus Decimus is stabbed before his fight with the caesar and he just comes out and says "You will not be entertained" and lies on the floor praying for a chance to be in the next battle. Howay man.

Ah okay - I thought you were directing something at me personally about my reaction(s) Yeah - mind - the fact our takeover went through in the end also suggested foul play or some degree of jnfluence/corruption too. I'm unsure if my moral compass is now broken tbh. English football has been and continues to be, pulled apart by dementors.

Scores the winner at Wembley when he returns.

Apologies for losing some chronology/logic here but I'm going to start with your final point... Why not knock all buildings down then in the end? All buildings can be replaced with an evolution of something better in time? I just don't agree with that. Houses are just houses but that is far different from making homes and this (St James' Park) is home to so many people across the generations. It isn't just a building - it's a castle or cathedral at the top of the hill, in the heart of the city and a place of religious pilgrimage or simply fortitude for people of this city. The increased capacity split is anyone's game - it's okay saying we get 30k more seats but how many will be corporate and how will this impact the atmosphere? Will it be of significant financial gain for us to keep up or as intended - to get ahead? It is fair and right to suggest that staying at SJP absolutely wouldn't generate the same revenue though. Acoustics and singing sections and actual consultation with fans is imperative for them get this right otherwise we will have a soulless bowl of silence and with that - the record we have at home more than likely perish. Ticketing issues are just that, they are obviously compounded by the supply and demand factor (and heavily so if Stiflers figures are correct). However, they've repeatedly "consulted" fans and then gone with what they wanted and it's gone to shit loads of times as a result. Maybe if they fixed some of these issues then youngsters would have the opportunity to attend.
