The Howay The Lass and We Are United banners are still on the quayside and a few statues around town should still have scarves on them if they haven't been cut down and/or knicked. Other than that nothing other than murals and windows that have been painted I think. -
Think folk are underestimating Dan Burns experience and leadership aside from the fact he's been one of our best 3 or 4 players this season. Even if he doesn't feature he will undoubtedly be a good person to have in and around the squad at this stage to ensure the right standards and work ethic is set. I honestly think there are folk within our support that get a kick from putting down certain players - all a bit weird if you ask me.

Such a loveable chap.

Couldn't happen to a more likeable lad. Really hope he gets the chance to represent England. I think it sends a good message to players around the country.

I don't really like doing this as it's not my style but wanna post about the absolutely phenomenal effort some of the group have gone to in the build up to this final and of course the display itself which will be unveiled on Sunday. I've been taking somewhat of a back seat on it as I've been to Bergamo seeing Sam Fender tonight and have just been catching up via our WhatsApp and if it hasn't reached social media already it'll be there by mid-morning tomorrow. Scarves on statues all round town and flag displays on the Tyne. There's been a humongous effort and I'm so proud of all our team (and of course our financial contributors). I desperately hope the atmosphere is ferocious on Sunday and we lift this cup. It has to be our time some time. Why not this. -
Amen.

However, that may mean they're out their groove too. Hopefully.

Newcastle got battered off PSG when they played them marra.

I haven't seen Barnes perform that role either... Barnes has nabbed a few more goals this season but Willock has been known to perform that role better than Barnes (historically speaking for us).
-
That's also right. Depends how we approach the game I guess.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's intentional, it's desperation - but this is all a match ticket should really be. The issue of not turning over enough to cover overheads isn't that the ticket prices aren't high enough, it's that the overheads are obscene. I am speaking generally here, up and down the country. The same price probably gets you Bundesliga tickets in Germany. Football in this country is horrendously overcooked financially. You only have to look at Man United. Making dozens of 'normal' folk redundant and blaming overheads when they have sub-standard, passed-it footballers running around on over 100k a week. It's shocking.

I'm fine. I think we should be approaching the game with the idea of going toe to toe with them. With Botman and Hall out we're pretty threadbare sitting in and defending all game especially when they have a whole host of players who can score from outside the area. Barnes isn't going to be the man to close them down and press them high with enough pace and intensity to really do it enough effect. I think that's where Willock comes in and perhaps can drop into a midfield 4 if the game dictates it when we're our of possession. Barnes is bringing more goals and assists, which I understand, but from the point of view of us not having the ball much I feel Willock suits us better and is also more effective when the game is stretched.

Doesn't start for me on Sunday as I think he may well have more impact off the bench. The way I'd play I'd probably start Willock.

Fair. I just don't value the CL over a cup win. I've been there, done that, got the t-shirt. My Dad is like 67 and only seen us win the fairs cup, I'm 35 and have seen us lift nothing of note. So a cup win would be a fantastic moment for us both to share and would have huge benefits for the club and it's confidence etc. To kick on. It's basically heart vs head this debate tbh. No one is wrong.

Spurs global brand isn't anywhere near as strong as teams who win shit though. Getting a cup win and Europe will build our profile more than CL for a season imo. I mean none of this matters anyway cause we're winning the cup and getting CL...
