Doing this already, even when the cards aren't good

I like gestures...

Cannot remember exactly tbh mate but pretty sure that folk in Government kinda cut off routes for the PL to block it albeit indirectly as did the PIF with the Bein shitshow and eventually the PL just ran out of ways to weasel themselves out. The same is happening now. They're just a farcical organisation tbh.

One of the big issues for other events such as music gigs was because the Milburn and Leazes roof (underneath the stand) was too low and therefore machinery and vehicles had to stop at the NW corner and a lot more manual labour was incurred as a result, further resulting in additional costs. This is why the Stadium of Shite is used by those who don't know the area. That could be raised - I suspect. Other sporting events surely can occur there assuming that they'd a) be when we aren't playing there and b) they didn't require larger pitch space (assuming something like NFL is what we'd be aiming at here and therefore - to my knowledge - we couldn't achieve this). Frankly though - I don't particularly care If it's any exercise in bringing people from all over the world to our wonderful city then I understand. If it's to extend our financial capability as a football club, I understand. Other than that - I really don't care. It's our footballing home. If Newcastle (and I know the obvious response here) is successful or has a good side without the need for those things then honestly I'd rather stay home (SJP). The fact we'd have to spend billions on a new stadium and boost our revenue and pay for said expansion before we develop our squad to compete (potentially) is all a bit strange to me tbh. It shows how horrendously shit the current rulings are. All this nonsense about protecting clubs heritage and community and yet clubs like Newcastle have to move stadium to keep up with Jones (?).

As a resident in Killingworth it'd be double cush for me like.

I mean not entirely accurate but appreciated the humour (and point of this post)

Mike Ashley was a massive spatula. Sorry. Just had to get that off my chest when he was being discussed.

It isn't I agree. But even with existing rules in place it is about "the rich" remaining "the rich" without the ability to be challenged, albeit in spending power not money in the bank. A free for all is better than a closed shop, so to speak.

This is pretty much as simple as it can be said (to my understanding) and you're absolutely right. What a peculiar outlook on sport these clubs are taking... Imagine in the film Gladiator when Maximus Decimus is stabbed before his fight with the caesar and he just comes out and says "You will not be entertained" and lies on the floor praying for a chance to be in the next battle. Howay man.

Ah okay - I thought you were directing something at me personally about my reaction(s) Yeah - mind - the fact our takeover went through in the end also suggested foul play or some degree of jnfluence/corruption too. I'm unsure if my moral compass is now broken tbh. English football has been and continues to be, pulled apart by dementors.

Scores the winner at Wembley when he returns.

Apologies for losing some chronology/logic here but I'm going to start with your final point... Why not knock all buildings down then in the end? All buildings can be replaced with an evolution of something better in time? I just don't agree with that. Houses are just houses but that is far different from making homes and this (St James' Park) is home to so many people across the generations. It isn't just a building - it's a castle or cathedral at the top of the hill, in the heart of the city and a place of religious pilgrimage or simply fortitude for people of this city. The increased capacity split is anyone's game - it's okay saying we get 30k more seats but how many will be corporate and how will this impact the atmosphere? Will it be of significant financial gain for us to keep up or as intended - to get ahead? It is fair and right to suggest that staying at SJP absolutely wouldn't generate the same revenue though. Acoustics and singing sections and actual consultation with fans is imperative for them get this right otherwise we will have a soulless bowl of silence and with that - the record we have at home more than likely perish. Ticketing issues are just that, they are obviously compounded by the supply and demand factor (and heavily so if Stiflers figures are correct). However, they've repeatedly "consulted" fans and then gone with what they wanted and it's gone to shit loads of times as a result. Maybe if they fixed some of these issues then youngsters would have the opportunity to attend.

I am sure there things that can be done to the existing stadium to allow for thing such as concerts tk eb more accessible. I am already aware of some the issues following work on previous concerts. I just don't have faith in this multi-billion pound concept at present in all honesty. A lot of the PR work done with fans seems like lip service to me and whilst it's a welcome change from no communication a lot seems like an exercise in placating the fans enough for them to just crack on with what they were actually going to do anyways. I don't really get anyone singing about how "we got our club back" when we supposedly did after the takeover and this is the reason why. It's not "our club back" it's a new version of it. I'm not convinced by any of it. My heart rules my head on NUFC and my heart tells me this won't be the dream ticket to success nor will it be the continuation/evolution that folk think. We're probably better off investing in fucking the PL over and removing unlawful rules more than anything else at present. Then maybe we can knvest what we like where it matters - on the pitch. I will happily eat my words in the future of they do a good job of it but na, presently it's just not for me.

Fair enough - I just question this popularity of the game to be honest. Tin hat here but I feel that a lot of this additional popularity is as spectators or folk looking for sporting entertainment as opposed to supporters. I mean they're entitled to be entertained too. It's just going away from what football is for me. If the PL is going to continue in this way then it needs a real European style intervention whereby full stands are for singers and chanters and tifo displays and all that jazz and clubs are rightly represented by those singing for a clubs heritage and history and what it means not some jonny come lately who has bow decided they might take in a nice game at NUFC before the "support" the next "big thing" in a few years when we take a down turn. I'm really not arsed about catering for those types tbh. But you are right - it is the financial reality.
-
But the cost to cover expansion would be less. So whilst it may be more a certainty it (the price hike) may also be less in value. I suppose you could argue that the increase in corporate seats and capacity would offset said price hike to make them similar but in all honesty, I doubt it.

Sorry...not sure how you mean?

Perhaps I am just very naive

I just don't get how an organisation can pass an illegal ruling anyways. I'm trying to think of an equivalent to emphasise it but in all honesty struggling. Like if it is well known (as this is) then surely The FA (or whoever) say "You cannot pass this ruling" and thus the vote is voided/not even undertaken? Apologies in advance if I am being a bit thick.
-
Sorry but how can a potentially illegal solution be voted through? (I may be missing something fairly important here... )
-
As always it's all about how it is done and where, when, etc.
-
This is the issue for me. No one knows enough. If they literally flipped the stadium like Bilbao (?) And turned the Leazes end 180° I'd probably be entirely for it. But moving it up into the Town Moor or worse, elsewhere is not something I'd like.
-
I was too and 100% understand this. However, that is the risk we took. I lost all my loyalty points (around 80) and cannot get to away games. I feel for you (and others like you) but I don't think we need say 20/30k increased capacity to accommodate those folk.
