  1. I think your last 4 words have summed up the problem on ready to groom. We're at the bottom of a ladder about to climb (hopefully) as high as possible. They got as far as the first rung 10 seasons ago and nailed their feet firmly to it. They habitually confuse ambition with delusion and are conditioned to accept second-rate. Which probably explains why their town centre is such an interminable dump. His 10 game record, if spread over a whole season would've seen us finish about 11th, and in our last game he oversaw the complete demolition of a Champions League side. They spent about 3 weeks outside the bottom 3 for the nth year running, swapping their manager midway a-f*cking-gain, relying on a convicted paedo for points and obviously the benefit of our yearly donation. But technically they're right, Rafa was there when we went down so I expect to see it on a t-shirt/tattoo/on a banner towed behind a Cessna Skyhawk (from ponteland airport natch) Tbf I think it was from Peterlee airport.
  2. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/sep/14/sky-sport-italia-suspends-paolo-di-canio-after-showing-dux-tattoo You've gotta love the mackems and their heroes
  3. He has the ability to be a top player but his attitude in a few areas has held him back. I don't like him, but if he keeps this consistency up and his attitude is right he can go far.
  4. That's not really based on anything imo. Man United was a poison chalice and everyone could see that they needed a massive overhaul/massively overachieved with the team from the season before. Real Sociedad aren't the sort of team to be pulling up trees in La Liga and even though he didn't do well, it's not unlike them to be in those positions, and he was only given one year in a country speaking another language. You can't just write off his 11 years at Everton because of 2 seasons at other clubs. Whilst I agree with the general sentiment that there's not enough evidence yet to write him off as done, he's made a lot mistakes. Going to the press and telling the world you are in a relegation fight in August, just to get extra funds (you would presume) was stupid and counter productive. The business he did in the window was curious to say the least, it's not like they had no money they spent a fair chunk and brought in what ?? They have one PL quality striker who is about 104 now. He's critcising his players in public, that's a huge indication that the pressure is getting to him. The man is just a dour individual, does not inspire excitement at all and his teams play that way too. His body language was all wrong last night, he just sat back in his chair looking thoroughly disgusted. The clock is ticking I think. Everton played some cracking football at times, so I don't agree with the whole dour football thing. He's obviously not Guardiola, but he's hardly Allardyce or Pulis either. It seems to have been a criticism that's stuck with him. Personally think the things he's come out with at Sunderland are honest, that club is a complete mess and has been for ages. We've effectively saved them from the drop for 3 seasons in a row. The Everton fans that come on here from time to time can correct me if I am wrong, but there were significant grumblings about the style of play under him towards the end, certainly that first season that Martinez was in charge for they were all banging on about how much better the style was. He plays a functional style, I think he relies a la Pardew on a few individuals with real quality to form the attacking intent of his teams. His methods take time to bed in, he hasn't been given that time at his last two clubs. The two big questions for him is will he be allowed enough time at Sunderland and are his methods still relevant today, not sure this was the right appointment for either party to be honest. Sunderland's squad is about as bad as they come for a PL club and the additions he's made haven't really helped that, I think he would have been better off at a Swansea or Southampton. I really don't get why Sunderland fans would moan about the style of football, trying to play attractive football at a club like that is liable to get them relegated. Those sort of players won't go there, they are far better off with a muck and nettles manager like Moyes who will collect mostly hard working players who will graft and win enough points to steer clear of relegation every season. Provided they can survive this one. Nothing wrong with aspirations, other fans said the same about of with Pardew....he had us playing the worst football ive seen in Newcastle's prem history. As for the mackems they've tried the bump n grind brand of football for years and all its done is stave of relegation. Sunderland fans shouldn't just have to accept rubbish football and being in the bottom 5 every season. Did you sit through the Sourface paper aeroplane game?
  5. Shepherd can fuck right off like. Sad to see he's lost so much weight
  6. Did your Merc come with optional crack cocaine? Closer to Scholes than Beckford to Cole... I was 22 and wasted after travelling back up from our relegation game against Villa but as far as I can remember I never insinuated he was near even Division 1 Cole's level, like. Either way, I think we can all agree Owen, as effective as was in a few games under Keegan was nowhere near Scholes. Scholes was the complete attacking midfielder. I wouldn't say complete like, he couldn't tackle for one... Yep, his tackling was atrocious.
  7. f***ing hell. You're actually just a bairn by comparison. I always had you down as being in your 50s now. Whoops. how did you get 50's? Born in 76, maybe it's the three kids that gave aged me. Let your eyes drift left TM (not my avatar yours, man ), suspect that may have helped... I'm sorry mate, you'll have to expand on that Your avatar looks like Mick from the 1920s. Yup, suspect that the Chomsky avatar did rather play a part in my estimation of TM's age. You have to be old to read Chomsky? no-one ever told me

  10. Do they still have their market stall at the airport?
  11. This goal was against Burnley. The goal that Yorkie described was against Bolton (wearing a yellow away strip). Yeah thought it was Burnley. I remember the Bolton goal. They were both included on the Newcastle history vhs released when we got promoted under Keegan
  12. Hibbitt might have provided the pass
  13. The ball over the top from Tudor (I think) in the 74 semi final? Where he outran two defenders and buried it was one of the best I've seen. Amazing pass, pure speed and brute force finish, best ever counter attack.
  14. Love the fact that these overpaid tossers are flying/driving everywhere only to be told to p*ss off
  15. If Diame performs to that level every week he looks twice the player.
  16. Some absolute bollocks on here. It's a straightforward broken leg, not a full on acl. If he's good enough he'll prove it. Quite like that we're signing players with something to prove, should we go up I would imagine we'll see the rest of the trash cleared out next summer.
  17. So basically West ham have just laid AstroTurf over the track?
  18. Pretty sure that moon-faced girl has been on a few other pics of their songs that have been on here.
