After watching smith recently i almost prefer butt as a player. All smith seems to do is foul, i know nicky does as well but he has a bit more to his game -

Yes but the system is ineffective. Who would you play up front then? -

The taylor tackle is a definite penalty and a red card. The problem is that section of play should never have occurred as Shola's was a stonewall penalty

was at the game today and basically we had no chance of winning. First half we were dreadful and this was partly down to the tactics. In the 4-4-1-1 we had no outlets and while neither of their goals should have counted, they were worthy of a lead. In the 2nd half we got rid of the useless Pancrate and we played much better with the 4-4-2 system. We scored a good goal the had the 2 penalty appeals which were both definite pens, 1 based on the fact he gave the Bednar one which was soft. Ameobi's was a stonewaller and the worst thing as pointed out by others is the lack of consistency, he was constantly stopping the game when 1 of their players went down, but play continued when Shola was down. It was that 30 second period which decided the match as one of their players would had to have gone if he had given the Shola pen.

LUALUA. Pacey and takes players on, heard he was great vs donny pre season. Give him a go. Would be nice to see the ball staying on the ground and moving forward.

Not really since in most cases the disappointment i am talking about refers to some of these promising youngsters being moved further from the bench as opposed to onto the pitch. -

That was an example but it is all over the park the problems. None of the selection tactically makes sense. On the LuaLua front, it just annoys me that we shove the development of promising young players further back by bringing in average or lower players. Kazenga had a few sub appearances a couple of seasons back and did well, yet we bring in Pancrate and rate him higher because of his experience although from what i have seen he is quite terrible. Players like Tozer and Baheng need to be encouraged, getting some bench times, and this development should only be pushed back if a very good player comes in. I would say the same with Ranger/ Harewood. Hrewood isnt great so give Ranger the game time. Let him get the experience to establish himself and be a better player. -

What annoys me is the first team lacks balance in the midfield and why bring in a player like Pancrate, who is not even quick when you have a promising youngster with some experience in the squad. Often i feel managers jump the gun and dont look at what they have before deciding who to offer a contract to. The team as a whole lacks balance, for example 3 central/ defensive midfielders in the midfield 4, with the most attacking full back playing with the only out and out winger. This is why i would like to change manager if we get promoted, because for me the managers main job is to get the team selection right and from there i look at how the team performs. I dont believe Hughton picks the right team. -

Would love to see a 4-4-2 with real wingers (and therefore balance), with lua lua selected ahead of pancrate. Pancrate is an average player going downhill. Lualua is faster, and an average player who can only get better. He has more than earned his chance and if Keegan was manager he would be making more appearances. The fact that Keegan rates him as an attacking force and that was 2seasons ago means he should play. -
only 2 attacking players in the starting line up today.
-
8 million seems a very fair price for someone who rarely gets on the pitch. Surprised liverpool havent snapped that up immediately
