Newcastle United Vs Swansea - 17/12/11 - Pre Match Thread

I had a dream that we conceded first, equalised just before half-time and went on to win 5-1. I think Nicky Butt played and scored though, so this might not have been a premonition. -
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16227495.stm "one of my few regrets is that I wasn't able to go and watch The Smiths live." I found that bit funny considering his neverending list of misdemeanours.

this really emphasises just how well our lads did against Stoke.

that makes it sound like you were testing out an injured Tim Roth's defensive skills. -

I always feel better after hearing Pardew's comments. The man speaks sense. -
I think he'd be better as an impact sub... for the reserves.

appreciate the effort from the lads, even with 10 men and 4-2 down they kept going right til the end. I'm proud of them for that. But let's be honest. as soon as we saw the team sheet we all knew it was going to be tough with that defense. Santon impressed me. Bottom line is we don't have enough strength in depth. A few injuries and we're screwed. -

how's el capitano doing? -
so how's our centre back pairing going to work? James Perch stands on Danny Simpson's shoulders to make up for their lack of height?

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
Oakie Doke replied to Pilko's topic in Football
... he probably means Barton. I don't remember Nolan setting up Carroll much, it was usually the other way round if anything. Anyway, Carroll simply cannot fit into a team that plays the style Liverpool adhere to. He's not suited to fast-flowing, attacking teams that play the ball on the ground because he doesn't possess the technical ability, nor the pace. If they want Carroll to succeed they'll have to accept they're not going to do it by playing attractive football and would have to completely change their set-up. I think if Carroll went to Stoke he would be unplayable and I could even see him bagging 15-20 goals a season in a team like that. Unfortunately for Dalglish he didn't realise how one-dimensional AC is before he bid a ridiculous amount of money for him. He just saw that he had been scoring goals regularly, was young and English. -
Tiote and Perch would be a ridiculously small CB pairing. I think our best bet would probably be Kadar and Perch with Tiote just infront of them.
