He looked a broken man, after one PL match
-
He was fantastic in the second though, more than made up for his not great first half. Shelvey too.
-
Gigantic result! Fantastic 2nd half, hands up Eddie got the big calls absolutely right. Nice little cameo from Bruno at the end, although I'm not sure that blind backheel was the wisest idea, even of it did come off.
-
Such a terrible decision keeping Shelvey on, Howe has an uncanny knack of getting every big decision wrong.
-
If Shelvey comes out for the 2nd he'll get sent off for a stupid yellow 100% guaranteed.

The issue is we desperately, desperately, need a change in midfield, we know our current midfield is not up to it and, as you say, this is a must win game. Better to take the risk of playing him and it possibly not working than play a midfield we know is not going to be good enough. -
He's not had any significant injuries and he's only just 30, he'll have a few years in his legs yet. Other than the addition of Cornet the whole team had gone stale from what I can tell, which is more likely to be the cause than his legs going at 29.

I've just watched through that videos of his first 50 for Burnley and 11 of them were him running in behind onto through balls, which isn't a bad return for someone playing for Burnley. Some cracking finishes too.
-
Can we leave that term to the mackems please, so rtg.
-
I can't see him working as a striker, I think in order of preference it would be: Gayle Joelinton ASM Willock None of which would be good.

On paper this is our easiest remaining home game, if you can't see a win here then where? -
He'll be a disaster, all the more hilarity if he does.
-
Not completely clear from that angle, could be that it wasn't all of the ball over all of the line, not the miles in they're making out.
-
It was offside as well.
-
He'll be fine, he only needs to be better than our current central midfielders, that's not much of a challenge.
-
I think it does make a difference for FFP to some extent, because FFP only allows losses of up to £15m per season unless those losses are covered by "secure funding", the limit goes up to £115m over three seasons if those losses are covered. One of the forms of "secure funding" is "contributions that an equity participant has made by way of payments for shares through the Club’s share capital account or share premium reserve account".

It's interesting that we don't have any new sponsorship deals yet, it's possible we've submitted a deal for approval and the PL either haven't made a decision or are saying it's above fair market value.

If that were the case then surely crime rates would be directly proptinal to the severity of punishment? Which I don't think is the case, to some extent the opposite, places with very severe punishments often have higer rates of murder and sexual assault. Most people wouldn't commit rape and murder because most people are inherently caring and empathetic, not because they think they'd get caught. I very much doubt any such thoughts of 'getting away with it' entered Greenwood's head. As he says in the recording "you're my girlfriend" it seems more like he felt he was entitled to do what he did to her.

Freedom of speech is not absolute. If someone is posting from a professional account linked to their employer they need to be extremely careful about what they post.

Bit of a misjudgement by him given that the company he worked for is owned by the Haymarket group, which is owned by Michael Heseltine, who possibly has just a few links to the Saudi state from his time organising billions of pounds worth of arms deals to them.
-
We've got decent cover at left back in Manquillo, Dummett and Burn.
-
Hopefully if Bruno gives us more control in midfield our attacking players could start to look a lot better than they do at the moment. They've just been feeding off scraps hoyed up to them so far.
-
I know everyone assumes that goes on but 'sounding out' players (including through their agent or other players) without their club’s permission is tapping up. We couldn't do that within the rules of football. I think we were naive in relation to Lingard though, we got played by Man U and it might cost us dearly.
-
Although our main problem has been conceding goals, particularly late on. We've had no problem taking the lead, we'd be top 6 if we had seen out all of the matches we took the lead in.
-
Yeah, we desperately need someone just in front of the defence to effectively move the ball forward. It's so frustrating how often Shelvey in particular gets the ball, sees no options then just turns and passes back to the defence.
