Is Eddie lurking on here?
-
Well that does probably trump my 15 year old Level 3 personal training qualification I think there is probably some nuance to it rather that being ‘right or wrong’ though. Different protein sources do have different amino acid profiles and many plant based sources are limited in some essential amino acids. Although most of the population can probably get an adequate level of all essential amino acids just from plant based sources just by looking at the amount of ‘protein’, an athlete might need to pay more attention to getting the enough of all essential amino acids.

likewise. I still lurk, just life and self-doubt get in the way of actually posting sometimes.

In terms of fatigue, the same issues have been present since the start of the season, or before. I think fatigue is obviously an issue with such a crowded fixture list, but I think fear of fatigue is as much if not more of an issue, I think Eddie is instructing the players to play in bursts and have less intense periods of sitting back and building patiently between bursts of pressing. The problem is our players clearly struggle to be effective in that less intense mode and struggle to switch the intensity back on, it's just not working. He also isn't using his squad to manage fatigue, other teams rotate when they have three matches a week, we stick to our 'best 11' every match. That is counterproductive to the fatigue of the 'best 11' and the confidence of the players that only get on for 15 minutes at the end. I know that they get stick on here and there might be eyebrows raised at them starting matches but Willock, Ramsey and Elanga need to be played much more than they have been.

Not entirely correct, protein is formed from various amino acids, individual plant based protein sources generally don't contain all of the essential amino acids needed by the body. Whilst plant protein sources can provide all of the essential amino acids needed they generally need to be mixed to do so, such as rice and beans. So it does take a bit more understanding and effort for a vegan to get enough of all of the essential amino acids, but obviously an athlete working with a nutritionist will have the support for that.

Looks like he'd be our best option for the right wing too. -
Will Osula: Goal vs Man United nominated for PL Goal of the Season

Antoine Semenyo was playing for Bristol City at 22 and had a record of 16 goals in 112 appearances. Most players don't peak until their mid 20s at least, he's shown lots of flashes of having the ability to be a very useful player. -
He did for Villa. Sometimes it takes a season for players to settle, Speed and Solano looked very ordinary in their first seasons for example.

Newcastle United 4-3 Leeds United (07/02/26) | post-match from pg. 75

It was always going to be disallowed, but watching it frame by frame it looks like he doesn't actually touch the ball, it looks like the keeper loses grip on the ball as he lands. And the keeper's reaction looks more like "shit, I've just massively fucked up" than "that's a fucking foul ref!". Then he goes to the ref and unconvincingly points to his knee, seemingly claiming that Schar fouled him with he knee rather than that he knocked the ball out of his grasp with his hand. Not that it actually matters at all. -

Same time and time again, drop deep, stop pressing, concede. -
Yes, but that doesn't affect infrastructure investment and it actually makes infrastructure investment more important.

If we end up burnt out and injury ravaged so be it, we need to get back to all out intensity is our identity football. The players we have clearly aren't capable of doing the slowing down and managing games thing, Eddie has tried to get us doing that for three seasons now and it just hasn't worked.
-
Cowardly, the way he set us up to just sit back and not press, no other word for it.
-
They've just scored shouldn't they have 11 men behind the ball and just let us have it?
-
I don't think that would make a difference in terms of FFP/PSR, it wouldn't count as income. I doubt they are playing it entirely straight, but they're clearly not going to be blatant about it.

It feels like a bit of a shift from Eales, who always seemed to be more cautious when speaking about our ambitions.

In 1997 we almost certainly had both the Castle Leazes plan and the expansion plan drawn up at the same time. The planning application for the expansion was submitted just one month after it was announced that the club were abandoning the Castle Leazes application, so must have been ready to go in the background. No reason why they wouldn't do that again, the costs of preparing both at the same time would be miniscule for our owners and compared to the costs of the developments themselves.

Nah, he might actually get sacked and no one wants that.
