  1. All the teams you've mentioned usually have something to play for at this stage of the season, be it the league, a European place or Premier League survival. By comparison, our season's essentially over. A push for Europe isn't necessary out of the question, but its also very unlikely to be taken seriously given the attitude of the board and the manager towards the Europa League. I'm not disagreeing with you - it's pretty pathetic just to hit 40 points and shut up shop - but it's an inevitable symptom of where we are, particularly in relation to the teams you've mentioned.
  2. He was much better today. End product still very inconsistent but was our primary outlet for most of the game.
  3. Cannot understand for the life of me why we aren't in for Holtby. About as close as a natural replacement for Cabaye that you can get.
  4. As if that's a red card. Yellow a piece, nothing more. Absolute bullshit. Shola nailed on to start at the weekend now, fuck sake.
  5. Not a natural winger by any means but he rarely gives the ball away and always puts a shift in. Thought he was fine today.
  6. Apparently Alexander Merkel's going to Watford on loan. Isn't he supposed to be pretty promising?
  7. I think it was imperative to match Arsenal for numbers in midfield. I love Ben Arfa as much as the next man, but for me using him as an impact sub was the right call today.
  8. Bit unfair. Pardew's approach to this game was essentially the same one he used against Chelsea - keep it tight and compact for the first half then go for the kill around the 60 minute mark. It was only really undone today by the one defensive lapse. No-one was complaining about the attacking intent on display at Chelsea; I think it's unfair to do the same for today's game. It's also a tactic I feel is fundamentally flawed. Why?

  11. Why is it a certainty though? I don't remember West Ham being backs to wall when they played them 2nd half...... West Ham didn't have a lead to defend going into half time though.
  12. Tough one, what are the fixtures like? Arsenal has Stoke (H), Swansea (A), and West Brom (A) while Liverpool has Southampton (H), Sunderland (A), and Crystal Palace (H). I'm thinking Moses should see more playing time with Coutinho out, but I'm worried Liverpool's offense might not click as well. And I genuinely don't know Wenger's plans with Ramsey, whether he's worked his way into the starting XI for good or not. I imagine once Podolski's back, Ramsey will be back on the bench. Suarez is back soon isn't he?
  13. Reckon Welbeck is worth considering as well?
  14. Based on what? After he came back from Bolton, he spent another season and a half as a bit part player at Chelsea. We should have laid down £15-20m that summer and got him. Sturridge was on obscene wages at Chelsea though. Absolutely no chance we'd pay close to what he's now on at Liverpool.
  15. That Williams looks really tidy.
  16. That last 20 minutes or so was the best I've seen us play in ages. Our attacking play wasn't nearly as laboured and desperate as it has been. After Remy came on, we had runners pouring forward on the break at every opportunity and should have really scored 2 or 3. We were fluid, quick and cohesive and it was genuinely good to watch at times.
  17. Walcott in for Hazard, unsure whether to take a punt on Dzeko starting either. Planning on bringing Oscar in for Coutinho after this week too.
  18. I'm still not convinced. Took his goal well but is immensely frustrating to watch and lost the ball unbelievably cheaply in some instances. I think he could be an option as a wide forward in a 4-3-3, but as a traditional winger in a 4-4-2 I don't think his crossing will be up to scratch. As anonymous as Marveaux is out on the wing, he is at least capable of whipping in a quality cross.
  19. Marveaux was undeniably underwhelming, but far from the worst on display. He had his moments last night - remember him making a great burst through the middle only for him to pass it forward to Gosling who lost the ball under his feet. Also thought his delivery from corners were good. If used properly (and that's a big if, admittedly), he's still a good asset.
  20. Only out-field player coming out with credit so far this season imo. Anita? Krul?
  21. Dzeko got points for an assist - was it not for that? Nah, he got the assist for Aguero's goal but not for City's first. Contentious I guess because the first goal was a deflected cross but still, if you were going to give a player an assist in that situation it would've been Dzeko.
