I want to see if they agree personal terms. I won't believe this deal is done until I see him in a Villa kit. If I was a gambling man, I'd bet he doesn't agree terms.
-
They've been following the guy for at least twelve months. I have to believe they know what they are getting and how best to use him. Get it done.
-
I don't have much faith in Fat Bastard but I can also see a scenario where Zog says he'd be interested in returning, the club investigates and finds that the fee and/or wages desired is high enough for them to back off. Zog wants what he wants and I don't think he really cares who gives it to him.
-
No Zog. It's time to move on. Need cover for left back. Need competition for Simpson at right back. I think we need to bring in another center back, preferably a younger one. And we definitely need another striker, one who can challenge for the starting XI.
-
pfft, he should just enter the country illegally. We roll out the red carpet for illegal aliens.
-
Lull? Lull? How can you say it is a lull? More like a temporary lack of movement if you ask me... glad you took that as intended

Dave is factalicious.

Who said it was the "only way"..? It's as good a measure as any, though, and the fact nobody here ridiculing UV is willing to take him up on his bet tells its own story. Blackpool scored 55 goals last year. How would you characterize their attacking players? And FWIW, I wasn't ridiculing anyone so...

Not getting worked up over it. I just don't think goals scored is the only way to judge attacking quality /shrug

Wayne Routledge signs 3 year deal with Swansea

NFL - lockout NBA - work stoppage MLB - history of strikes Yeah, our american way works great! -

Is goals scored always the best way to measure a teams attacking quality? I would think possession has to factor in. More time on the ball means less time for the other club and that helps you win, too.

I'm not sure how one can say we don't want to spend the money if we were in for Gameiro and Erdinc. We targeted two players and one went to another club and one doesn't want to move. The market for Zogs is up in the air with his club looking for too much money. Even the LB situation is in flux. We find a release clause and the club fights it. Is it better to hang on and fight for the 1M clause, pay more for the player or just get someone else? There is still time in the window for the club to show it's intentions. I understand that people don't trust the club (read: Ashley), though.
-
To pay 20M for him on the last year is insane. No one will pay that. Wait until December and start negotiating for next year.
-
I understand that but what use is Modric to Spurs if he doesn't want to play for the club? Surely the best option would just to be to get the best possible deal rather than feed him the 'we will let you watch the season from the bench or stands'. Phil Jones signed a 5 year deal last summer and a 1 year extension in January yet why should Blackburn hold him back from Man Utd when that's where the player wants to go. Don't really want players that don't want to play for your club. should the player think of that when signing his long term contract. maybe he should say "just make it a 2 year deal, if i'm good i can f*** off, if i turn out to be cack you don't end up paying me for 3 years of turd" truth is the players want it both ways. Your right the player does want to hold all the aces and in some cases i dont really agree with it, especially when the contract was signed just a matter of months ago for a long term deal. But i think in Modric case that he thought Spurs were going places but have effectively taking a step back by not qualifying for champions league again and also this season looking even stronger i suppose he is regretting signing the contract but if we are to believe him, a deal was still in place where he could move but is being absolutly bumped on doing so even though a solid big money move is being offered. And on the other hand, how about Modric taking the situation in hand and helping his team get back in the CL? They drop out in a competitive PL and he wants to jump ship? Since when is it a right to get CL football every year?

Yohan Cabaye (now sporting coordinator at Paris Saint-Germain)

I won't be convinced until I see Cabaye chicken dance better than Nolan. -
Great choice. After a disappointing first season he could have run away and no one would have cared. He stayed earned the arm band. Captain Colo!

He'll be like a new signing. -
I despise the smirking little cunt but Nasri was tremendous last year.

Curious as to who the horse's mouth is. Pardew? Lliambas? Ashley? Quite disappointing if true though.
-
I wonder if we were ever serious about getting him in.

It was always dodgy how much of the Carroll money was going to be plowed back into the club. I mean, just the statement that fees and wages would go against the 35M is nebulous. We don't always know what the fees and wages are so we're in the dark from the get go. My feeling is that after the initial low budget (but good) signings is that Fat Bastard put the brakes on and from here on out for every plus on Pardew's agenda, Fat Bastard will take something away. Kind of like: Pardew: I really want to hang on to Coloccini. He's the heart of my defense. Lliambas: Fat Bast...errr... Mike says he's on high wages. if you want to keep him, you'll have to give something up. Pardew: Shit. I guess that means Zog returning is off the list then Lliambas: Atta boy! Anything else? Right then, cya Alan.
