  1. It has to be a difficult transition from being the primary offensive threat, prior to Howe, to being a more complimentary player now. He's made the adjustment and can be deadly while creating space in the box.
  2. from our position earlier to not qualify for Europe at all would be extremely disappointing. Top four is slipping away and with out a glut of goals I can't see us making Champions League. Someone needs to start getting hot be it Isak or Wilson and we need some others to chip in as well. Defensively we're still sound but a lack of scoring will take it's toll on the squad mentally.
  3. If we played October form we're in with a shout. But it is not October and out attack is rather toothless. We didn't create many chances and if we didn't I'm not convinced we would have converted them. We were only going to have a chance to win if we scored first. Still, I'm heartened by the fact that this isn't a one off. I expect we'll have more of these types of games. Now we have to focus on staying in the top 5. I'd much prefer top 4 but we have to start hitting the back of the net to make either of those happen.
  4. As will ownership. I think, though, that they have stuck to their principles in the past and this is just another example of it. If we gain CL it will have been a big gamble that was won. If we gain Europa it's a pass. I really don't see us falling out of the European spots so I think it shows confidence in Eddie and the squad to keep things rolling and hope for no major injuries in the center. I also think that had a qualified CM loan presented itself they would have snapped at it.
  5. I went with 7. Got some guys off the books. Brought in some for the future. I like the Gordon signing. Would have liked some cover at CM
  6. Elliot Anderson will qualify. They will have to run with just 23 players if no one else can qualify. Dummett will be back next year. That's all I got.
  7. I was an ardent hater of his but, imo, he redeemed himself somewhat with his fitness and play last year. Had he been healthy from the start i think the club would have been happy to extend him. But, since he wasn't I'm sure the club told him that he's no longer in our plans for next year so he'd likely sit and not trigger the extension. Wood and Shelvey are both part of a limited rebalancing which I'm fine with. Just surprised that it came in January and with Shelvey, this late in the window. Hopefully someone is queued up to replace.
  8. I like him and have followed him quite a bit since last season. I think he'd be a good addition to the squad. We could buy and hold and when we outgrew him he could be sold for a decent price.
  9. He'll be a solid squad player for us going forward. He brings energy and effort and pops up in good places at good times. Every successful club needs a player like that in the MF
  10. He's playing like an out and out poacher right now, which is ok, but not what we need. He would not have been in position, nor been able to set up Joelinton's goal as Isak did.
  11. I was leery when the lineups came out. I understand why but I think it was too hopeful. Ritchie being the biggest surprise. He's done. I really thought Anderson would be develop outside and thought he should have been slotted in Ritchie's spot. He looks crowded out as a CM and think he'll be better suited as a wide forward. I have no problem with Manquillo and was glad to see Lewis get a run out. However I would have to have seen him in a stronger side. Was surprised to see Dubs as He hadn't played or trained with the team much. And I did not expect much from Wood, sadly. The biggest disappointment was Murphy. He wilted under any pressure there may have been. In a game where we had to score first to lock it in we had quite a few missed opportunities up front. All in all the kind of performance you'd expect from such a patch work team. Anderson needs to go on loan. Lewis and Murphy should be flogged. Ritchie should be drawn and quartered. Good set pieces and a big mouth don't cut it any more. The rest of the back up players showed they were just back ups aqnd the first team players did little to distinguish themselves. Gotta win
  12. Looking back, one could say that the takeover was inevitable. The vast amount of money in PIF was always going to be a weight hanging over a lot of heads. I mean, that's the way world works unfortunately. Money always gets what it wants; if not immediately then in the very near future. Money beats popular opinion. Money beats common sense. Money beats justice and on and on.
  13. Bruce would have them ticking over nicely
  14. This is a great question because i really had to think about it. There are so many possibilities right now but I'm going with Tripps. He feels like the rock that this club is built on right now.
  15. Joelinton: was about to be rode out of town. Scorned object of derision who has been transformed into a near elite midfielder who is a leader on the pitch and a genuine good guy. Miggy: ran around like a muppett, scared of his own shadow. Now plays with bags of confidence and scores for fun. Longstaff: raised up by Rafa only to sink back into the quagmire under Brewce. He's not a world beater by any stretch but used correctly can be relied upon for a quality shift. Murphy: another headless chicken who has been given proper direction and is now a serviceable PL player. Shelvey: fat, lazy and disinterested. Under Howe he has gotten fit and has a bit of fire. The old Shelvey would have milked the injury until the WC at least. It was great to see him back Schar: Brewce had him on the scrap heap. He's back where he belongs. That's six guys. They were lost money. They weren't contributing and nobody wanted them. Under Howe they have confidence and play with purpose. Just like new signings, indeed, with no extra cost. Brilliant work.
  16. Kane's goal should have been ruled out as I think the ball hit the back of his teammates head.
  17. The best part was that if Lloris hadn't flopped he may have been able to prevent Wilson from scoring.
  18. He's a joy to watch right now. He's scoring on shots he would have never, ever even attempted
  19. I never thought I would ever say this but it was good to see him get back on the pitch.
  20. They'll start playing Miggy differently and then it will be the next man up.
  21. So happy to beat these today. We're not winning by luck. We're not winning with smoke and mirrors. We are flat out beating teams
  22. I hated Bruce from the moment he was announced. He was one of Ashley's sick jokes. A shameless piece of flaming dogshit. For a while Pardew had some sympathy from me but but then he went full on snake. My hate for him is borne of the fact that he was a hypocritical scuzzball. Carver was totally miscast and a victim of the times. Should have never been allowed near the first team, let alone manage it. I loved Joe Kinnear. Shit manager and I was sad to find out about his mental illness but by god he made me laugh. He was Ashley's coup de grace of a middle finger to the supporters. I despise Allardyce for the arrogant scumbag that he is. McLaren was so totally over his head that I still don't think he ever recovered from his time here. Shearer and Keegan were blips on the radar while I've followed the team. However I genuinely celebrated Keegan's win over Ashley. Chris Hughton is a genuine gentleman. Although I still think with good backing he would have had success I was quietly happy he was let go before Ashley stained hi soul. Rafa was a godsend and outshone the emotional blackhole that was Mike Ashley. I will always remember his professionalism as we all stared into the abyss. Howe is marvelous. He's meticulous, passionate and a great man manager. Hope he's here for a long time.
