But we've looked "ok" in most league games since after Boxing Day and only won one of them. I wasn't suggesting wholesale changes but Targett for Burn would give us more of an attacking option on the left and also some variety to Trippier's set pieces. Isak for Wilson might see some of these chances we keep creating and he keeps missing converted.

Continuity and loyalty are both all good and well but there's got to be a line in the sand where you admit it's not working at the moment and make a change to either personnel or shape. Going too far the other way and "knee jerking" is bad but we're way beyond that stage now IMO. Feels like he's had the inbox message in Football Manager saying "Howe unwilling to experiment despite poor form" that you get when you haven't won in a while but stick with the same side & formation and he's chosen to ignore it. The "too nice" stuff is obviously bullshit but "too loyal" or "too stubborn" are fair assessments at the moment. All that said I've faith he'll turn it around and get us firing again, I just hope it's sooner rather than later.

Just catching up on the threads from the weekend and it's an absolute pleasure reading about those who came to Newcastle, particularly those who came for the first time or from abroad. As someone who's lived in and around the city most of my life I'm not at all surprised by the warm welcome and local hospitality that you all received. There's almost a jealousy I feel - bit like when someone else you know watches a TV show or film you've absolutely loved for years for the first time, they think it's great too and you wish you could experience it for the first time again too. Well done to all the local lads who showed everyone round - looks like you did a class job.

As I was saying to my pal during my expensive Club Wembley half time pint on Sunday, it must be fucking easy being a Man U fan. Rock up just before the game, another day out at Wembley, hope we beat whoever it is we're playing. Chances are we will. Play bang average on the day but marginally better than the opposition, bit of quality from the billions spent or the rub of the green, lucky break, refereeing call or deflection we've had go our way consistently since the 90s and Ferguson era. Don't bother chanting unless it's aimed at the opposition fans. Don't make any other noise unless we score. Complain about the Glazers, they're a fucking disgrace, I mean finishing top four basically every season, guaranteed European football and in the quarter finals of at least one of two of the major competitions every single season, it's a bloody outrage that we only had two decades of winning stuff every single season and now it's only every few years! Class reading their forum where they're all FEWMING that we got such heavy press coverage of the Trafalgar Square takeover. All falling over themselves to say "WE DID THAT FIRST MARRA" - seems like London didn't notice and nobody gave a fuck when a bunch of troglodytes supporting a League 1 team arrived. Wanting an attacking player to be sat down after two months of basically fuck all is hardly "knee jerk" like. Miggy's added little outside his usual graft & endeavour since Christmas, it's reasonable to suggest he needs a rest and the team freshening up. He might well have more impact as a sub against tired legs & earn his place back. Mind, Murphy isn't the answer either. I'd want Gordon in the side for a little run to see what he can offer.

Saw ref Michael Oliver in the Green Man before the match. Heard another fan asking him if he could text the ref and get us a pen, he laughed and said he'd see what he could do clearly didn't try hard enough!!

After a Man U shot went over the bar in the second half their fans held onto it for a good 20 seconds, then threw it out at the corner flag, Karius had to gallop 30 yards to go and get it. Ref indicated he was adding the time on but utter bullshit that there wasn't extra balls ready and waiting.

At least Webb seems to be making changes and pensioning off the most obviously shit ones tbf. He may end up doing fuck all good but it's at least nice to see him making some moves.
