Have to say too, it was slightly infuriating watching us play tonight. We looked to always pass it out from Alnwick and play it out from there, whether it be to any of the back four or Abeid dropping in deep. We really did play some fast-flowing, exciting football (loads of men breaking forward when we nicked it off them, good link-up play, running the ball at the opposition, 1-2's, etc). Even when we played it long which wasn't a great deal, the balls had purpose and the diagonals caused Stoke so many problems. Beardsley was encouraging the lads to keep it on the ground as much as possible which was refreshing to hear. This is how the first team should be playing though!

We were pretty damn mint tonight, could have been any score. Dominated from start to finish playing some lovely stuff along the way. Xisco put in a very, very good shift and actually looked like he has a bit of talent. Hope he's rewarded with a place on the bench on Thursday alongside Campbell who ran his bollocks off and created a lot of chances for himself and his teammates. Although we didn't have much defending to do, Good and Satka played well when they became a pair at CB, as did Tavernier who looked very classy at both CB and RB. Good in particular was really impressive. Only slight negative for me was Amalfitano. At fault for the goal with an awful back pass that went straight to their striker, something he'd almost done earlier on too. He looks a million miles away from the first team at the minute, unfortunately.

What's wrong with what he's said there? Nothing, apart from us having players who can do both when allowed to. We have some, yes, but he's right in that we do need better players in order to help achieve it too. 9/11 should be enough really. More than that we've seen it be enough previously. He's talking balls IMO. There are teams with far less decent players who play a passing game. Simpson/Williamson's alleged inability to operate within a team playing passing football doesn't explain why Cabaye is playing early balls to the Dembas from just outside our area, or why Krul will hoof it long from a goal kick when Colo and Santon are ready to receive balls, or why there is often a massive gap between midfield and attack. Pardew prefers a percentage game. He likes squeezing up the pitch, and the Dembas magnificiently capitalising on scrap balls that fall our way, howsoever they occur. He just wants the ball away from our goal I've virtually no doubt we'll see the same from the first whistle this Sunday. Priority will be to play the percentages, keep a clean sheet, and keep the ball away from our penalty area by hoofing it long and far - which is why Shola should play, but that's a different kettle of fish. Like I said earlier, I can see both sides to it and do agree with what yourself and Tooj are saying too. If we do sign these better players in order to control the ball more then he really has no excuse.

What's wrong with what he's said there? Nothing wrong in itself, but if that's his vision he's moving further away from it if we're going to keep playing like we are atm. I can see what you're getting at but can see what he's saying too. Think it's mainly aimed at the defence as we only have Colo and Santon out of the first choice back four who are truly comfortable in possession.

Some of the stuff he comes out with at times baffles me.

The first one is Klose FGS and Germany win btw. No one will believe me now anyway but I won't bother posting a screenshot. Returns 100€ btw. Decent start so far. Bet you wish you hadn't changed your mind now.

He certainly was, some of his rides were outstanding. Agree about Moore too, very classy thing to do. Read that Paddy have been done in for around a million and a half today. Also read about a fair few people winning big too. Bookies have said they'd have been done in for even more had it been on a weekend and not on a Monday which is a bit of a shame. I didn't do too badly out of it anyway! http://i45.tinypic.com/x6gzkx.jpg

Fuck that, I actually want him to score!

England were -14 on the corner handicap at half time. Baring in mind it was 9-0 at HT too, 6/4 was pretty insane. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wfcrKJ27UR0/T8l9UfcQb1I/AAAAAAAABgo/ZftwRYBhzQQ/s1600/printing-money.jpg
