Should it be more than a shirt? Probably not. But it is and we can't escape that. Only a few clubs have 'special' shirts and we're famous enough to be one of them. The stream of past number 9s will ALWAYS be mentioned, whereas for most clubs it just wont.
Personally, I like that in this era of oil tycoon owners, strange kick-off times and identical meccano stadiums......we still have tradition and nostalgia.
I'd be comfortable buying Hooper if we bought another striker, but if we dont then its asking for trouble.
EDIT: Maybe put Leon Best in a deal? Or Ranger on loan?
Was expecting something funny to happen but it just never did. Maybe it was a 'you had to be there story'.......why was the Jamaican guy so shocked that he wanted swimming shorts? Weird.
Expectations were set so low by the time he left us, he was bound to 'impress' at Wigan. Still think he's a disaster waiting to happen and I'd be chuffed if the Mackems bought him.
......but yes, obviously he'll score against us.
According to FourFourTwo's twitter, 8 Premier League clubs have so far banned the vuvuzela:
Tottenham, Arsenal, Birmingham, West Ham, Sunderland, Liverpool, Fulham and Everton.
Woohoo
I like our 'number 9 tradition' because its a special something else that separates us from other clubs. And I'm happy for Andy Carroll because even though he sounds like a twat, he looks genuinely happy in that photo and it might give him the confidence that eventually leads to the England squad. Local lad does well, gets us promoted and catches Capello's eye.......he deserves it.
C'MON ANDY!!!!
