Easiest home game since the 3-0 vs Bordeaux for me. What a performance. Couldn’t tell you anyone less than 8/10.

Dubravka Trippier Schar Burn Targett Shelvey Guimaraes Willock Fraser Wood ASM Willock grew and grew into the last game, and he needs that license to roam forward more. Tough call leaving Joelinton on the bench, but I think the balance of the team calls for it. First time in a long time that the team and formation doesn’t pick itself.

Newcastle ins (on the screen): Kieran Trippier Chris Wood Dan Burn Matt Targett Bruno Guimaraes Hugo Ekitike Paul Merson: Not good enough, never heard of any of them. Arsenal ins: None Paul Merson: Great window. Great club. Give me a break.

Getting torn apart, over and over. We had an improvement in performances initially with Howe, feels like we're going backwards now. -
Don't even need to sell him, just terminate the contract and take the hit.

They had a chance to have everything lined up and good to go in January. They should have known how fine the margins were, and from seeing our team, how shattered it was from Bruce. I'm sure they'll be successful long-term, but they've shot themselves (and us) in the foot, and are about to see a significant devaluation in their team when we go down in May.

Yeah, we're down.

Get Rafa back.

If PIF don't go out and spend £200m+, this squad is down. And there have to be questions about Eddie Howe after this result. -

Surely he should be bringing Elliot Anderson on. At least someone with some attacking instinct. -
Would it be optimistic to assume it could involve buying out Sports Direct from the advertising deal at SJP? The Chronicle said earlier in the week that they were looking into ways of wiping those contracts clear.

Very disappointing stuff from the new owners. If we had one hope, it was that we'd be run like a proper, professional club at the very least.

Yes, I’m not an idiot. But if I’m in charge of a business or department leaking information, it’s a bad look for me. You can’t just say, “Oh, well, the leak came from the tea lady, so all in all, no harm done.”

An inability to get Emery is understandable. Having it leak out to the press, and having it discussed openly that NUFC are “confident” only to have Emery reject us, is not understandable. It’s sloppy, from a PR perspective. There was clearly a briefing from someone in the last few days when Emery became #1. The eyes of the world are now on the club, willing us to fail in most circles. Things have to be of a high standard.
