Shocked they haven’t found an excuse to give that. -

I've really struggled with it this season. I struggled last time we were in the Champions League, whether it's the cup runs added on top this time, I don't know. Really starts to ruin my enjoyment of it. -

Aaron Ramsdale: return to Southampton confirmed

Was beaten by a very decent strike at the near post. Saved a penalty (again), unlucky that Murphy was slow to react. Made a couple of excellent saves. N-O reaction basically that he shouldn’t be paid actual money as a salary. -

Got a feeling whatever happened to Lascelles has also affected Krafth. -

Look, overall, he's the best manager the club has ever had. I've said numerous times I want him to be the one who takes us all the way to the top. This season has been full of dross, though, and he's been partially responsible for a lot of it. He's done fantastically well in Europe, and the cups. "One day of drizzle" is a fair comment in the full context of his time in charge, but not this season. This season has been a rainy one. As ever, I hope he rebuilds and I hope we get something like Europa League next season so further adapt to playing in 4 competitions against possibly less intense opposition.

Best game in a Newcastle shirt, even without the goal.

Whilst one sunny day doesn’t make a summer, I was delighted for him. Looked so relieved at FT. The game plan worked pretty well, a huge improvement on previous matches in that there was a clear plan and attacking fluidity. Let’s keep it up.

What happened to the 5cm grace? Almost as if it was invented for Liverpool. -
That's his opinion, that's fair enough. It's another example of the attitude that Newcastle should be happy with where they are and shut up. There's never any issues with constant hounding of Amorim or Frank or Postecoglu when the "Big Six" aren't sat in the top 6 spaces. If we were in the Top 6, it would be a case of "Should Spurs move for Howe?" it just never ends.

It is catch 22, but you look at what Chelsea etc. do with their sister clubs and loan market and they already have about 150 players. I'd let them have everyone have few players for the sake of other clubs not having to run their few players into the ground with a schedule like that.

When you look at that, you do realise that the fixture congestion is absolutely totally unacceptable. Then you have those bloody international breaks for friendlies at the start of the season. It's an absolute dereliction of duty on the wellbeing of footballers. Superpaid athletes or not, you can't perform at the top level with that number of games. I appreciate this only applies to European clubs, but with that comprising about 8/20 teams in the Premier League, I'd have thought there'd surely be an argument to expanding the squad limits. Obviously we don't maximise our squad because of historic underinvestment in our academy leading to a lack of homegrown players, but I'd have thought bumping PL/CL squads up to 28 should be seriously considered.
