  1. Maybe Guthrie aint fully match fit/sharp? Its fairly obvious Al will build the team around players like Owen and Butt, imo.
  2. Attacking team, obviously. F*CKING C'MOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!
  3. Did his bus headrest have 'Bass' on it? I actually wouldn't be surprised if it did!
  4. Olympiakos of all teams! Very random transfer. Strange decision though, its not like Jason Roberts is prolific infront of goal...
  5. The two times we've gone out with a good gameplan this year, Man Utd (a) and Man Utd (h), Jonas has been very good. In the first game we set out with an attacking mindset and distributed the majority of our play down the flanks which Jonas shone because of it- he was immense that day. The second game we set up to play a counter attacking game and again, we played most of our football through Jonas wide on the left. Clearly, Al has seen what a threat he can be and, as they say, is using our strengths to our advantage.....something we don't do enough. Nice one, Shearer!
  6. I remember walking home from my first day back at school on a beautiful August afternoon when my dad rung my to the me the news! Amazing feeling!
  7. I haven't a clue. I must of been about 4 or 5 at the time so I didn't have a clue. Can remember where I was when we signed Micheal Owen, though. Still, just not the same...
  8. Its almost like Shearer's returned to play for us! The buzz is just brilliant! i just wish i was able to go to the match. I've loved Shearer since I've loved Newcastle...and football.
  9. I just cant wait!!! 1-1!! Sheeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
  10. Agreed, its a special video. To see people in the East Stand stand up and sing shows you just how epic it must have been!
  11. Who's that lying on the carpet, who's that lying on the floor, oh its Wisey on his back because Big Al gave him a smack and he wont be screwing *Geordies anymore!!! Who's that...... Tune: The munich aircrash song/whos that team we call united *= I couldn't think of anything else that fits in there concerning NUFC (anyone got any other suggestions?). True, Shearer didn't smack him, but lets just say it anyway!
  12. Well those people are not professional athletes who should be on top of their game each day. So, professionalism is the sole preserve of the highly paid? I'm not arguing that pro athletes shouldn't go out on the piss, btw. Just something a bit hypocritical going on so I'm playing devil's advocate here. http://members.arstechnica.com/x/nastro/devils_advocate.jpg I don't understand. It's Homer playing a pinball game called 'Devil's Advocate'....
  13. Was saying this to me father this morning. I dont see why football should be an exception.....just because they earn much more money doesnt give them the right to fuck about.
  14. i think its one of them them songs that would be good home or away, type you could get going round the ground and gettting louder and louder. Think would be class at an away game with everyone bouncing as they sing it. Are we really resorting to pinching Scotland songs? (and even Liverpool use it now) FFS man, nearly every football chant or song has been nicked or modified from another club. Aye, the amount of clubs that have re-used Blaydon Races (and in a really shit version, as well).
  15. I've always thought he's only a good manager when he has a truck load of money to spend- and he didn't have this at Mexico. City would in a better position atm if they'd of kept him, imo. He'd do pretty well with all that money.
  16. I love that 'We'll be coming down the road' one! Excellent. I agree also that E I E I O needs to be brought back- immense song.
  17. In fairness to the poor sods, they're treated like slaves. They need to relax every second night....
  18. I can see Shearer being fairly strict, like....but I cant see him being Roy Keane strict and end up turning everyone on him- he's not that type of guy. But I think he will be looking to ruffle a few feathers during his first couple of weeks at the club, just to stamp his authority on the place.
  19. Not starting Nile Ranger....
  20. Haven't seen any of your contributions elsewhere on the board. I'm curious to know what you think of everything that has transpired here as a liverpool fan. I'm quite sure you're quaking in your boots as far as the title goes. Peter Lovenkrands > Fernando Torres lyke To be honest, it seems to keep getting worse and worse for you every time I think it should get better. I can't believe you're in the relegation zone. I thought the RELEGATIONOMETER was a joke when it went up. I think NUFC fans will not tolerate negative, defence-minded football, so despite the silverware that Houllier and Benitez have brought to Liverpool, I don't think either of them would have survived at SJP, because of their style of play. The only thing Liverpool fans really care about is winning that bloody league again, and we have a huge tolerance for tedious football as long as we're getting the points. It's different here, though. I've always thought Newcastle's problems were down to rotten executive management. It's the same at Schalke just up the road: consistent underachievement relative to spending, and it's because incompetent executives hire incompetent managers who spend too much money, which would be better spent elsewhere anyway, on players who aren't good enough. (And regarding Schalke, their squad is so full of dross, you'd be mad to buy any player they want shot of, i.e. Løvenkrands.) I thought Ashley might sort that out: being a successful businessman, he'd probably know to bring in good people and let them get on with their job. It appears he's not that sophisticated, though, and he seems to have made a string of bad decisions. Still, it's hard to think of many examples of football club owners/chairmen who are paddling with all their oars in the water. Villa seems to be a very well-run club. I'm sorry, I cant agree with that. The restof your post is a good one, but not that bit, like. If we were playing direct, drab(ish) football BUT were still getting results and moving up the table/progressing in cups etc. then whoever it is managing us would be tolerated. Afterall, its results that move you up the league- not style of play. For too many years now have we had a combination of shit football and shit results. When those two mix the manager hasnt a chance. Example: Allardyce As for Shearer- Good man, Alan! Bout fucking time these buggers get a kick up the arse! They could do what they wanted under Houghton, but now things are different....thnakfully.
