  1. Would rather be up against Zaha of late than Olise, like. Thanks Pat.
  2. The lack of shooting ability from our midfield and wingers has shown recently. All do well to get the ball and themselves in to the final third but they all lack real shooting ability, couple that with a slowish looking Wilson for the past few weeks and we get what we've got. Sure our shots on target percentage must be like 30% or less recently.
  3. He was the same as he always is. Just watched this and I think you're both right, fwiw. You can tell losing a first team player without having a replacement absolutely wasnt on his radar until this bid came in, but he also accepts the reality of it and handled it as he handles every other question with mint, boring logic.
  4. Wish him all the best, personally. I'm on the side who believes he's played a very important role for us and played it well. Yes he didnt bring goals but the work he put in absolutely meant we scored more and conceded less, imo. Thanks for the hard graft.
  5. The thing about all this Gordon talk is, if Howe and I suppose Ashworth and our clearly mint scouting team think Gordon is worth going for now, from what they've done so far I'll change my stance on him if we sign him. I mean from what I've seen I absolutely dont want him, last season there were sparks and he's extremely direct so there's probably a player there, but he's not excelled to me. But I'm no where near as clued up as them. So its a weird one, I dont feel like I have any right what so ever to question things atm. But I dont like him
  6. Mahrez has been consistently unreal for years. His name should be right up there.
  7. Villa must be after someone to replace him surely? They arent exactly blessed on the goalscoring forward front.
  8. Not a cat in hells chance, we've already upgraded Wood by singing Isak. Maxi/Almiron upgrade/addition would be the move. I can see us getting a young striker in at some point if Howe wants to start playing his former favourite 442 more often (like we moved to against Fulham). I think thats a few singings away from being possible though and even if he did want to move towards that being one of our formations we need players for other positions first. Edit: Forgetting Kuol but I think even with him we'd look to sign another young CF if we were looking to play 442 more, but probably with more experience than an 18 year former old A-Leaguer.
  9. You're doing a world class footballer a massive disservice. Kane in this Newcastle team (which would obviously never happen) would be playing a different position to what he has been. Our whole set up and build up would dictate that. And to say a known presser wouldnt have the desire for the press is just a bit silly if you've watched him play. Sorry. He doesnt just drift in to the 10 at Spurs and for England because he ends up fancying it during a game, he trains like that every day of the week, it's an intentional part of their game, because he has the ability and they have the quality playng off him. He's proven himself to be one of the worlds best goalscorers for years and years and if he ever moved to a different team he'd be a world class goalscorer there, and he'd adapt to their play and whatever role he had within it. Your opinion on it, like anyone else's, is hypothetical. Your hypothetical opinion unfortunately is just in the minority, which is why so may people find it disagreeable.
  10. I cant think of anyone I'd put ahead of him in our team like (in the PL). I was thinking who's level he's been at in the PL so far this season (performance-wise) and I'd say from what Ive seen it's Varane, which is a canny compliment.
  11. Gallagher would be a no brainer for me. He's a Howe kind of player, his end product is good and he will only get better. The only question for me is would we want to bring in someone better than Gallagher for that role, which I wouldnt be averse to. Depends on our strategy. Ziyech is a lovely little player but he's not a presser, hard to see him fitting in to our off the ball play, despite his fantastic delivery. RLC nah ta.
