  1. Unfortunately Dave you are right, our best chance of some day being able to be at a level where we were is signing players like this and bringing players through our academy. all the best clubs do this, they have a team of youngsters through their academy's and players bought, more players bought through academy's = more money to spend on those 2-3 quality players needed! why the hell has it take this club 8-10 years to realise this? Worked well for me on FM all these years. Get the young prospects cheap, and if they dont turn in to owt, pass them along for what ever fee. at least you've got a decent squad for cheap
  2. Psssssh, he was areet, nowt special but then neither were we. You can see why he was brought to the club, often disappointment to the club and himself though. Not really a goal scorer, couldn't cross, probably had a half decent assist count with his runs forward before poking to ball to someone else, can anyone else infomr me of his assists:games whilst at us. Sad to see anyones career end like his has, he was a bit of a rude boi but he was harmless. Don't think our club did his already fragile state of mind any favours, probably would have been a better player elsewhere in my opinion. Cheers for the few memories, sorry you were pretty shit, enjoy retirement.
  3. Jeez Dave I feel like shooting myself now. I was quite up-beat about this regardless of peoples reservations, but fuck it, I may not even follow us for a couple of seasons now....
  4. Aye, totally! France weren't flamouyant enough for me, even though they had as much a defensive midfield as spain did, they didn't have the passing. I think defensively France may just edge it, but spain defended better as a team in keeping the ball, having a structure, men always seeming to be around to put on pressure or steal the ball. Its hard because its personal choice, but I def agree France 2000 were better than 98 and I think both spain sides were better than them so....
  5. Quality. My opinion of Casillas has gone up tonight. Is that his bird or just an easy way to get out of an inerview when crying?
  6. No he's adamant he's just seen it, He's a liverpool fan who's just watching it at home. says it was mentioned. I bloody hope so, I would laugh so fucking hard if that deal was done!!!!!
  7. Anyone else seen this swap deal between Villa and Mackems, Bent for Heskey?!
  8. Aye great shout. Definitely something classic with a Newcastle logo on more than the football club logo, town crest is perfect. SBR foundation should also be right across the middle like that. Definitely no shirt manufacturer though! I'd pay £25 for that in a heartbeat!
  9. Moyes rates Gosling and wanted him to stay at Everton. Good enough for me!
  10. Spain may not have prgressed in the manner they did, but their unbelieveably solid defence and outstanding midfield keeping the ball basically every game has allowed Villa to pop up and score. I honestly think even Torres may have scored a couple of those. Spain have always seemed to have the possession and therefore piled on the pressure, they've ground teams down, constantly trying balls through the defence in and around the box. They have been a bit arsenal-esq in trying one pass to many, and Ive been screaming 'RUN' at the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Villa etc because there has been very little urgency in their attacking and no one overlapping from out wide or going past the man with the ball. Villa has obviously been the one who scored, but without him, I can still see Spain being in the position they are now, they'd have just gone through on Pens or something.
  11. Hopefully his ex-Plymouth buddies will urge him to come up here.
  12. Did you wish him well when he chalked off Vidukas 'goal' v Fulham? I hope he makes massive fuck cock up. The arrogant prat. He has reffed well though although IMO the Argentine fella has been the best. He knock into you in the street or something?
  13. Maybe you are remembering the half Ipswich and half NUFC scrafs we had last year. To me those scarfs are fine, but on a shirt it doesn't work and doesn't look right, infact it looks tacky. The only idea like that that seems reasonable is a reversable one. We would have to get some feedback from Ipwsich ans though, but I would take a guess and say that like us they would prefer their own shirts dedicated to SBR. If an NUFC shirt were to be manufactured, a similar ipswich shirt could be made and manufactured using the same template (except plain blue) Still though we should get in touch with the Ipswich fan club or similar to see what they think of the idea and if it would be a success. It though would have to be down to them to make it happen though, though I'm sure we could help them out, I.E. getting intouch with the SBR Foundation and shirt makers. It's a canny idea which should be explored should this work out, but we can't get too far ahead of ourselves already and start involving another club when we don't even know if the SBR foundation will be on board. They could be more persuaded if two sets of fans were behind it

  15. If it'd work it needs to be a bit of a departure from an actual home shirt, more of a home shirt inspired shirt, or something more gimmicky like half newcastle half ipswich. It absolutely CANT represent anti Ashley or anti Puma propaganda because then it will never be timeless, it will always age and it will lack credibility. If its represented more as a separate idea incorporating something else rather than a change to a more original design then it'll much more of a one of and much more agreeable to all I like the half Newcastle Half Ipswich idea on reflection, not sure if its already been mentioned, I haven't read the entire thread, maybe I'm remembering it from somewhere else....?
  16. The Polish have a terrible League and national team, wouldn't leave it in their hands
  17. Surely, even with us only being promoted, if Gosling's choice's were between us and the mackems, he just couldn't chose them, I mean, he must surely visit both places and see the players in each team. You can't look at Sunderland and go 'thats an attractive propsition, I really want to go there', you only go there if your mind set is 'first team football, decent wage, aye ill play there till I get a move away' (Kieran Richardson to name just one)
  18. I can't imagine anything worse than the Americans winning the 'Soccerball world serie's'. Sorry Mike, Ameritoon, every other sound American on here, but I'm sure you understand.
  19. Like the sound of Chareloi. Reykjavik and Viking would be good also. I think this one takes the prize for me though... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montevideo_Wanderers_F.C. Cracking nickname too, and Camoranesi played for them. I think its a winner. Free trips to Uruguay? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/ac/Montevideo_Wanderers_FC.png
