What is with you and english players 5 years past their sell by date? Owen not suitable now - that I accept. Lost his pace through wear and tear and doesn't offer enough otherwise. Hoped he'd have a renaissance at United, but he too much of a cripple now. Beckham still has it though, such a perfect specimen of an athlete. Plus he'd make a great captain and is our best right sided option aside from the nippy kids that can't maintain any form.

I don't think there is need for a 'statement'. Would purely be on footballing grounds (ie as long as he has the respect of the squad he should remain as captain). Aside from him being a complete cunt, he's a bloody good leader most of the time.

Even I'm past the point of hope for Owen. Too small, too slow. It's the way the game has been going the last 10/15 years.
