  1. You want to open your mince pies and ave a proper butcher’s, guv.
  2. Speaking as the resident Cockney expert, Danny Dyer is definitely more Cockney than Joe Cole although weirdly despite being born and bred in Docklands it would depend upon the way the wind was blowing on his birthday. Joe Cole was born in Paddington and grew up in Somers Town (Camden/Kings Cross). Close but no pearly king.
  3. Wouldn’t mind it as much if it wasn’t for the grinding, comprehensive bias.
  4. We haven’t had one in the PL all season and they’ve clearly decided not to award us any as witnessed by the weekend. Liverpool are just one of a number of teams to have had at least 20 awarded in the Pl over the last three years and I guarantee you they’d have got one if it was Richarlison on VVD in our penalty area rather than the other way round. Ironically, the kid who won the penalty for Oxford is one of ours.
  5. Just looking at us this week, we had the Premier League officially trolling us, then Carragher’s standard absolutely laughable “commentary” on our Liverpool match, then that transparently awful Sky Sports interviewer goading Tudor. Pat for the course. It’s never been great, but some of the coverage seems to have degraded in line with what we’re seeing on the pitch.
  6. Yeah, but they’re playing OK and they currently have two injuries. And one of those is Fabianski
  7. Yeah there’s definitely a school of thought that welcomes relegation. On balance I think I’d rather avoid it tbh
  8. Almost doesn’t matter if they do tbh - we currently have 13 players out in the injury table. The clash of heads in the last game ruled out Palhinha and Romero. It’s insane and unprecedented. The miracle would be staying up.
  9. The first game I went to as a very young kid was at home vs Mansfield in the Second Division (I’m told ). Quite a few people said that season was great fun, but (a) it might not have been had we not come straight back up and (b) Hoddle was playing. Look for Spurs v Bristol Rovers on YouTube. I used to have it on my “six matches of the 70s” video.
  10. We do, which makes it even worse tbh. The official Premier League account was trolling one of its own teams. As soon as they got called out on it they backed down but it’s not a good look. (Note that as well as the very obvious difference in reffing pushes by strikers, Timber smashed a ball into the crowd after Arsenal scored against Chelsea and…nothing happened).
  11. I mean, there’s consistency, just not the kind there should be.
  12. You got Kenchington from Barnsley and Guanem from West Brom.
  13. I stick to my perennial solution - the opponent get one free running kick to the balls of the offender.
  14. If we’d beaten Liverpool in the CL Final I would have done so there and then.
  15. Sorry, didn’t realize he kicked it into the Arsenal end, my bad.
  16. Can we get some of this fucking home team bias please? It’s a fucking joke. Gray got booked for kicking the ball into the crowd after the goal FFFS.
  17. Sounds like Frank had completely lost the team as well as the fans. I think they got to the point where keeping him was more of a risk than getting rid. They clearly wanted to limp through till the Summer but I kinda agree that something had to change. He might not make much of a difference but I suspect we were at the point when relegation was inevitable with Frank. At that stage you have to roll the dice, really. The weekend’s probably a write-off and we always lose to Fulham. Ideally we get anything at all from those two games and go into the match against Crystal Palace with a couple of players back from injury. Any less than two points from the next four games (away at Liverpool is the fourth) is bad. Anything more is probably OK.
  18. They favour the home team. Always have, always will. The only spanner that gets thrown in the works is the tendency to favour Liverpool and the reluctance to punish Liverpool, Man City or Arsenal for repeated “small” offenses (niggly fouls, dives, leaving the manager’s box etc.
  19. Not sure there is one over Tudor tbh. Generally speaking I think the consensus is that the plan all along has been to get through to Summer with Frank. That until we get a proper DoF it’s Vinai and Lange as the first line decision-makers and they are both out of their depth in that role. That there’s a decent chance they still wanted to stick with him (Lange at least) and that one or more of the Lewis clan said “come the fuck on”. It’s also not clear that we even had a plan B and it’s hard not to presume that this is a Paratici hire. Whether it was set up before Paratici left or not is unknown. I think the one consensus is that this is an interim hire to keep us up. Nobody expects him to stay next season, although if we win the Champions League…. There’s a group of fans who think this might be the best possible or least worst option as an interim, and there’s a group of fans who think it’s a terrible decision but don’t actually have a realistic option that’s any better. The Arsenal game won’t make any difference because he’s just got there, we’re shite, and everyone’s injured. If we somehow get something out of the game I think people will be immediately mollified but even if we get the almost inevitable obliteration it will only be the Press who get excited. It’s almost irrelevant. We have four games against relegation candidates which we cannot afford to lose.
  20. I did like “Early Doors Jesus”
  21. I do think there’s snobbery there, but there’s also a debate to be had over what effect their geographical (demographic/socioeconomic?) location has. I’m sick of London derbies tbh.
  22. There’s a decent chance we get bought by the Qataris, which would probably do it.
  23. My understanding is that Levy put the wage cap on, it wasn’t the real owners. They kind of let him run the show. Seems like the Lewis family had finally had enough and ditched him. Trouble is, they did it before there was a sturdy enough structure to replace him, and when we’d just made what turned out to be a bad managerial appointment. I think there’s a chance the ambition is there. The competence very clearly is not.
  24. For a number of years? We were fifth two years ago FFS . The gaslighting is as endless as the rain. Glad to not be part of the cartel though. All of the approbation none of the benefits: https://www.reddit.com/r/coys/s/YG4NO3QF8A Yeah I think there have been a handful over the years re players choosing us but we’ve never paid enough in wages to make the difference, even when we were really good.
