  1. Toney and Tonali doesn’t seem like a great idea
  2. It will be telling, but shouldn’t be make or break. I was always looking at year three of Ange being the acid test. Even more so now with the young players coming in and coming through.
  3. Sounds like we weren’t interested in Toney (for all sorts of reasons) and why would Villa sell Watkins? He’s a couple of years older too. I’m distinctly underwhelmed but I’d rather have another striker than not have another striker and he’s English too. I trust the current brains trust to make good calls. Solanke, Richarlison and Lankshear as striking options is pretty good. More concerned about who we bring in as another wide forward.
  4. Yeah supposedly he rejected a move to Saudi.
  5. Yeah but they used to pay silly money. 100-120K is certainly comparable for new, younger players, surely?
  6. Chelsea pay nowhere near the basic wage of a top PL team? I genuinely don’t believe that, unless you only mean Man City, Man U and Arsenal. Might be paying them less than they used to, but it’s still comparable surely?
  7. They were touting him round before that tbh.
  8. I mean, yes? Wouldn’t it be weird if there wasn’t?
  9. Surely they can’t have the same luck with injuries again. If so I’d expect them to at least win the league.
  10. As for Gallagher - Ange supposedly really likes him and we were going hard for him in January. Can’t see that happening now we have Gray. The story was that the asking price was well over the 30-35M somebody mentioned in here - HG premium etc.
  11. They’re properly touting him round everyone . Supposedly they contacted us because we’ve been interested in the past. Can’t see us going for him now unless all our other options fail and he’s cheap.
  12. The numbers of players brought in by each Premier League club so far are very peculiar. The top three have brought in 3 players between them (including Raya) whereas Villa have signed 10
  13. Don’t think he’s dynamic enough or possesses enough pace/acceleration for what Ange wants there. Tends to turn the same way when receiving the ball too. Such an interesting player though. Covers an unbelievable amount of ground, and from time to time produces moments of breathtaking vision and skill.
  14. For Kulu - he’s not the sort of winger Ange favours but has always considered himself more of a #10. Did a good job at times being the false 9 or even the actual 9 when injuries took their toll, but seems like we’re happy to listen to good offers. Does a lot of good things, can be frustrating. For Son - he was terrific at LW/CF early last season but has simply played too much football, particularly when factoring in the travel for international games. He’s definitely getting older, but he’s also just knackered. Hopefully we can rest him more this season if we bring in a couple of players up front. For Mikey Moore - he’s still young enough that Man City and Man U are trying to poach him before he’s allowed to sign an adult contract with us. As a result we’ve fast-tracked him a bit to try to nail him down. He could be really special - has that sort of Rooney thing where he already seems to have adult strength and balance, and cockiness to spare. Expect to see him get a lot of minutes this year, although all off the bench.
  15. Fun, but can’t escape the feeling that this reinforces the idea that football should be nowhere near the Olympics. Even knowing that the history of the Olympics is very much not all sweet-smelling roses.
  16. Stop listening to Talkshite FFS. You’re only encouraging them.
  17. I grew up with Hoddle and Archibald so always had my shirt out and my socks rolled down.
  18. Kulu’s been filling in as a #10 and a false 9. Also suggestions that he’s not in the long-term plans. He‘s just not the sort or wide forward Ang wants.
  19. We’re supposedly working on Neto. What are your guys’ thoughts on him? Permacrock and Mendes as agent which is presumably why it’s taking so long.
  20. Calling them a lol team seems harsh.
  21. Hoddle coaching the ten men against Argentina was a masterclass.
  22. Tbf, in that first game when he was told to stay up front (against Milenkovic which was a fucking stupid idea, but I digress) he was even less effective and hardly touched the ball. Because the set-up was atrocious. Southgate fucked it. After the pre-tournament games I was really excited about Kane, Gordon and Saka but it never happened. We saw about threee minutes of Kane, Gordon and Palmer and it looked mint. He kept trying to make Foden-Kane-Bellingham work and it never did - he was still trying in the first half of the final. Fuck. If he’d have started with Watkins it would have made sense on multiple levels. That classic England manager combo of cowardice and obstinacy.
  23. I just wish they weren’t such cunts . Also that refs added proper time on for people fucking about. Took them three or four minutes to celebrate the goal and took Morata about 20 mins to get off the pitch…that’s before we get to the other goals and subs and rolling about.
  24. There was context when he posted it but then loads more posts came up
