On a completely unrelated point - is Ryan Bertrand any good?

Not worthy of a thread - 2018 FIFA World Cup edition

So they chose Qatar and Russia??!! No, I agree completely with the rest of your post about the English structure, but FIFA couldn't give a f*** about it. -
I actually believe we will sign a player with a caliper Ashley will put the brakes on any such signing IMO. You're just using these shitty puns as a crutch, Dave.

Who's signing him?

2014 FIFA World Cup Brasil™ - Europe vs. America

Not sure if serious. Where are you now? -
I think they'll have a huge advantage, loads travelling to their games as well as the home fans and neutral being on their side. In terms of weather they'll have an advantage over Italy but that is all. Sao Paulo weather will suit England well. I know saying they'll walk away is a exaggerated, but I do consider them strong favourites to win the group. Will the Brazilian fans really support Uruguay? I thought they weren't the best of pals. I'd have thought the neutrals would be behind Costa Rica, if anybody.

Think you got whooshed there, Ronaldo.

The second South African penalty in that Guatemala game is so bent it's not funny. -
Any transfers going on anywhere?

That actually got me more excited about the World Cup than anything so far. It's so weird to be in the US for the build-up. Brolin in the Top 100, though? Was class in '94. Would have though Nils Liedholm would be a better Swedish choice though. Is he in there? /hipsterfootballfan Both should be on the list. Strange no swede from the 1958s runners up is on the list. Brolin should be a bit higher in the list. World class player until his career ending injury autumn 94. He never come back in good shape and made fool of himself in Leeds. It's a list for the 100 best players in World Cup history, think they tried to get it as geographically spread as possible, because while Brolin had one very good World Cup I'm not sure he was really Sweden's best player in the 94 World Cup. Dahlin - Andersson was a lethal strike partnership which forced Brolin to play the free-role. Liedholm I've been told wasn't the best either for the '58 side, heard Hamrin was better during that World Cup and scored more. It's so interesting to watch the games from back then, ESPN Classic is definitely a favourite channel. Watching the old World Cup games is as appealing as it gets for me. The sheer quality on those bad pitches with those heavy leather balls. Class. I figured Liedholm for the Gre-No-Li stuff, and isn't he the oldest scorer in the final? Was also voted Sweden's sportsman of the millennium, or some such. -
No, we're rationed to one each time. It was my go last time, Semtex this time, think it's Interpolic next up.

Ungentlemanly conduct, isn't it? Or do they not have that any more?

I can't argue too much with Pele, Maradona, Beckenbauer tbh - though I'd certainly have him higher than ninth. -

Doesn't work in the US, sadly - we're kiboshed by the first question. -
"Key" injuries this season: https://twitter.com/FootieLogic/status/471259891508580352/photo/1 In descending order: Spurs 45 Man U 38 Arsenal 35 West Brom 35 Man City 34 Newcastle 33 Fulham 32 Aston Villa 30 Swansea 30 West Ham 27 Everton 25 Hull 23 Southampton 23 Cardiff 21 Crystal Palace 20 Norwich 20 Chelsea 19 Liverpool 19 Sunderland 18 Stoke 15 Some evidence that Europe etc has an impact I guess.

f*** the bed. That is the clear definition of that man. The goalie throws the ball in the net ffs.

You watched us right? It's no feat being good against us Leffe trying to make us change our minds on Bentaleb cause he played well against us this season. Even Pardew would run the show against our midfield if he could coach us and play against us at the same time. A Pardew vs Pardew game would be something to behold.
-
...and yet, as I said, he was terrific against you. He's a kid. Younger than Bigirimana, same age as Aarons. Worst enemy FFS .

The world has come to making shit up about transfers.

I sort of agree with Ronaldo - on the face of it, what Sherwood did this season was miraculous. He had never managed so much as a paper bag before, yet had a 12-3-6 record in the league, which was the fifth best over that period. He also took a team that was struggling to score and squeezed more goals out of them than Arsenal managed in the same period (in one less game too). Also, it's slightly disingenuous to suggest that Bentaleb did nothing, given that he was really, really good at SJP. It's clear that playing Bentaleb was (1) Sherwood making a very clear point that AVB should have been bringing the kids through and that (2) that was what Levy wanted too. Ditto Adebayor. Ultimately, Sherwood was rightly sacked because he is just not ready yet - not a versatile enough man-manager or tactician. I thought he came across as considerably less of an arsehole than I suspected - nobody really likes him at Spurs - and his candour was actually somewhat refreshing at times. He's just a bit too much of an arrogant prick . My respect for him actually increased considerably, yet I was still fucking ecstatic that he was sacked, and I'm chuffed he's no longer with the club. I think he was a bad influence behind the scenes, and I think that's one reason why Poch stands a better chance of succeeding in the long term than AVB.

Nah mate, play football for as long as you can I would, it's my knees that don't want me too. I'm at a crossroads now - if I don't make a concerted effort to get fit I might never play again. I've not played for two years, and the last time I did my hamstrings just kept pinging. It was embarrassing, and so frustrating. How long do your knees hurt afterwards? Do you do the ice bath thing?

It's looked like being a toss-up between Poch & De Boer for a while. I'd be happy with either. Someone found an ace article on why Poch would be a good choice somewhere...but of course, I'm buggered if I can find it right now. It seems Liverpool will be happy if it's not De Boer: Liverpool Union @LiverpoolUnion 31s Spuds are finished, can see us Re-uniting Vertonghen and Eriksen with Suarez at Liverpool within the next 2 years. #LFC #Transfers Liverpool Union @LiverpoolUnion 20s Spuds just signed Pochettino, I know that they are a tiny club, but wow he's won absolutely nothing. #LFC #Spuds Unlike Brendan Rodgers, of course. Hang on...

...or an agent still thinking the PSG name will help.
