That was drivel. Bentley did very well as cover when Lennon was missing last season. He's not got much pace, and always slowed the game down when he got the ball; not always a bad thing, but it was frustrating. If we'd paid "squad player" money then he'd have been fine, as it is he was disappointing. That said, I'd wager that if we didn't have him we'd not have got fourth. I'd also wager that some of those who are laughing at 7M would value Carroll at something astronomical. Bentley's value to us is not massive, as he's simply a large depreciation each year plus big wages. He is, however, homegrown, relatively young and a recent England international. He's pretty good, honestly. Good squad player for us, good first XI player for you if his attitude's right and he stays fit. I think 7-8M is not unreasonable, but if no-one has any money then who knows. Bidding war would be nice.

Why would Villa sell Downing?

Voting still open for Niel vs Hibbert I believe.

sunderland blackpool Cheers. I was trying to work it out from the delicate subtext of Wormy's post.

Which game is he watching?

That's all right, livened it up in here a bit. I can barely watch the other thread now we're down to ten.....again.

Going to go top by themselves for the first time. And now they've got another penalty. I go on about this a lot, but there has never been a luckier side in the history of mankind.
-
Soft penalty. I have found myself seriously wondering if City actually have bribed refs this year.

Exactly what I thought, I was there too. With the level of pre-emptive negativity on this forum, I can see you getting something from this. There is no way that Carroll won't score (unless he gets sent off by a comedy ref for an innocuous aerial challenge). That said, if we hit the ground running this could be painful. I think Smith has been put on to seek and destroy VDV. However in reality he will seek and give away lots of freekicks against VDV. He might just get VDV riled up, he's got a bit of a hot temper. Stop feeling sorry for us and making excuses

I was absolutely raging at how flukey they'd been after everything. I feel like I say that after every bloody City match (Fulham excepted). Of course I'm wildly biased, but I genuinely feel that I've never seen a team get more breaks before.

Good luck with Village Idiot.

Even speaking as a Spurs fan, I don't like people going up with an elbow then pleading lack of intent. If you go up with an elbow then there's a good chance you'll injure someone. The only problem I have is with the ref's interpretation today. You have a word about being reckless, then book the player, just as he should have done with Albrighton.
-
Tbf it was the pervert linesman who gave the decision. He also claimed the ball went out when Kaboul scored which it didn't. Don't think there's anyway you can say the ball didn't go out, nor can you say it definitely went out. No evidence to either. Agreed. So it's a goal!
-
I used to be a centre-back, and I hated centre-forwards who did that, but you could also argue that Albrighton can't go studs up into a player's ankle when the ball has gone or you'll get sent off. He got off scot-free, Defoe got sent off. I just hate when players get sent off early in games for something that's debatable. Obviously I'm biased, but so's that bloody lino.
-
Fucking ref, bloody hell, wake up.
-
Bad for Spurs. City blag it, as do Bolton.
-
I tell you. Not only have they stumped up obscene amounts for wages and transfers, they've been giving similar figures to God so that He'll give them great swathes of luck.
-
Come on lads, get it up em.

Haiku? Can't remember how many syllables they're supposed to have. But beautiful all the same There's only three lines in haiku and he's Korean. Fair enough (although I have read Haikus written by people from countries other than Japan, although no doubt they're not real ones) A new manager Coloccini and Taylor Plus c'est la meme chose

Make that six. Still one-nil, so you just never know.

Jesus. Anyone else watching the Man U game? They could have had five already.
-
Could be argued that he won the Liverpool game for us with those two tackles on Torres though. He's been OK.

Heitinga should slot in or is he injured? Injured and doesn't want to be here. We might get to see a bit of Tony, get in! Ouch, massive blow for you guys. How come Heitinga is unhappy? Don't know for sure but seems to think he has a right to be starting every game. Last season he got increasingly better but this season he hasn't looked interested. Also said he was rather pleased when other teams (Bayern, apparently) expressed an interest, albeit they were probably just rumours. No space for people like that.. but if we can get him back quickly we may have no choice. When does Cahill go away? [/too lazy to look]
