Latest completely-made-up-but-mildly-plausible rumours suggest Keane and Pav to Sunderland if we get one of the big targets in. What would you guys think if this was true?

About Precisely 50/50 between CM and LW last season. He's filled in at LB for us too, as Dave suggests. Lovely left foot, but very one-footed. I'd have been happy to keep him as a squad player, but if we can only have the 25....... Probably more importantly, he's already made clear that he's not happy to just be a squad player at Spurs, and that's fair enough, at least he's honest. Not sure he'd be happy to be a squad player with you guys, but he'd be higher up the pecking order. Put it this way, I'd play him ahead of Smith or Guthrie at CM, and he could cover LB and LM.

Go on, send him off for lols.

So out of the Top 50, 7 Man City players, 5 each for Man U and Chelsea, 4 for Liverpool (!) and 1 for Arsenal. Plus the high end figures will be simply astronomical. Makes our fourth last season even more impressive, but we cannot hope to compete if we don't find extra revenue from somewhere. Unless the new regulations have some effect, this is pretty depressing.

Their width is essentially Johnson, and he's had to play left back the last couple of games. Downing makes sense.
-
Really? I tend to think it's the other way around.

That's why they want Carroll. Looking at the team they've built it's clear they need that big target man, both to deliver to or to help hold up for the other attacking options. Crouch is definitely not it. Probably the last missing piece of the puzzle between them and consistent top 4 finishes + the odd trophy. Dzeko would have been perfect, if we had silly money. How much is he being paid per week? I hate to say it, but Carroll might be awesome in that team. Won't happen, but still.

Aren't players still supposed to be booked for waving the yellow? Would have been magic that. "Yeah, Rafael, I agree. Wilson, you're booked. Rafael, 2nd yellow, you're off."
-
I clearly taught Mystic Meg everything she knows. Good game this. Can't believe how much space Torres is getting at times.
-
Liverpool really don't look great. I'd back Everton to win this.
-
Sorry lads, but....come ON Wolves!

Always knew that curly-haired munter was a racist. To be fair, he's been called an ape himself for years.
-
Quite happy for them to use up all the away goals today.
-
I really hope they fall apart. Get relegated, move to Stratford, play in a two-thirds empty stadium where the fans are miles from the pitch.

Blackburn without question, West Ham maybe (though the new owners will surely have been shocked by the wage bill coming in) but Villa certainly won't. One of the problems Lerner had with MON seems to have been the excessive wage bill, particularly for players who he wasn't playing. The suggestion is that his unwillingness to cut the wage bill led to him walking out. I can't see Villa paying over the odds, even if they shift players like Carew or Reo-Coker out. on west ham they did just green light wayne bridge and 90k a week wages and want keane so yes they are willing to throw money around in a blind panic. Agree on villa though. Really don't like this jan window, either keep it open all the time or shut the jan window because whats going at present isn't good for clubs long term finances as clubs just panic buy for stupid wages in the limited time of the jan window I don't mind it. It stops bigger clubs having carte blanche, plus if a club panic buys for stupid wages that's their lookout.

What would you say that would be? Not amounts, but relatively - would you think a freeze or reduction would be reasonable? I'd say we should be asking him to take a reduction in exchange for a longer term contract + the option of a champions league club release clause if the two clubs can agree a fee. That sounds plausible. Probably lower basic and better bonuses.

That really irritates me. Not that we have a wage cap, but that Alan Smith is earning enough for four decent players. Yeah, I presume that if there is any kind of cap on wages it is on total wages and linked to turnover. Until the remaining silly-contract players leave, there will always be problems. It's a start though, and surely the only way to build. The silver lining is that players like Smith will hardly be in a good bargaining position when their contract is up for re-negotiation. When does his run out?
-
This. Unless we've got someone else lined up I've not got a problem with Sol on the bench for the rest of the season. It's when he needs a full run of games that I worry, but it's not like we're going to lose our 2 first choice centre backs regularly. I wish I could say this. We've had 4 or 5 first choices unavailable most of the season, although that obviously includes our two crocks. Depending upon how much he's being paid, surely he's OK as a fourth choice CB to get you through the season? Unless you have a particularly good kid to blood, or someone goes out long-term. I'd be more worried about improving the 2 first choice centre-backs, then you can start pruning the back-up.

I have nothing against your people, just how you go about playing football. You're basically accusing somebody of being anti-semetic just because they can't stand Tottenham Hotspur. Really, who's being prejudiced here Mr. "I always thought East Asians were racist"? Oh and you can accuse me of anything you want, but f*** tottenham hotspur and all tottenham supporters Wish there was a yarmulke smiley. 'mon the Aussies.

Played against Charlton and was underwhelming. Don't think you'd find many Spurs fans who want to get rid - most see him as a good back-up for VDV's position - but not sure 'arry agrees. The rumour is that he came back "unfit" for pre-season. Redknapp seems unwilling to try him in the VDV position, which doesn't make any sense to me. That would suit him perfectly IMO. He's not the quickest in the world, but lovely touch and vision and a good shot. do you think he'd work in that vdv position just behind carroll for us or do you think he'd be better out wide? I wish we'd tried the VDV thing at least, it's not like we haven't had the opportunity. When he's played on the wing (either wing) he always comes inside or goes roaming, which can work but I'm not sure it's what you're looking for. He's got good touch, two good feet, is clever enough to bring other people into play - it might be wishful thinking but I always thought he could do it. Good set-pieces too. Just don't expect him to run about a lot.

I just loved the phrase "secret contacts". "Agents" is even better, will use that next time. Hopefully they'll stay up and give us a wodge of cash for him.

My secret contacts tell me you might have thought I was being serious. I agree that we done the right thing avoiding this disaster, but what makes you think what's been written is true? My secret contacts.
