  1. Different decision. Prob because Ipswich have started picking up & theyve a chance of getting stranded.
  2. Agree with this. Hes young, its his first season in the first team. He is learning still, he has lots of time to do so. He'll learn as he plays for England also. Ive no idea how anyone could possibly seriously think themselves able to determine Carrolls ability to never be good enough for the prem at this point. He's shown he can finish very well with foot and head, so its not that he doesnt have the ability. Its that he probably doesnt get enough chances to put away, which will be down to how much the team sets up & down to his movement. Again, he'll learn to improve his movement over time as he learns to lift the standard of his game to find space against the better defenders. Outside of that, he's already scored goals in the prem for us last season with the worst performing Newcastle team possible. So the whole argument is just a bit ludicrous anyway.
  3. Unlike Harewood whos been banging them in like crazy obviously. Because your judgement of what a players capable of is top notch

Much needed confidence? he is an Argentine international playing in the Championship .. confidence for this guy shouldn't be an issue in this league. It can be though, if your club forms going badly & your stuck in a bad patch it'll affect your confidence regardless. Especially with his finishing. Glad he's scored for him. Even with the injury, that'll be a lift any time he plays for us now. Should be less panicky infront of goal.
  5. Hope we dont sit back now, gone a bit quiet since Jonas went off apart from Guthries chance.
  6. Thatll do wonders for his confidence. Love it. Wonder if the masks out
  7. Harewood starting ? Well he'll only have so many chances to prove himself, had better put a performance in today
  8. Same old stuff in this thread. One set of people making generic sentimental statements, about when will "enough be enough". "How much will you take." That True faith Article was the same embarassing waffling. A lot of fighting spirit with no logical backing in any form as to why this spirited fighting they were pushing so hard was actually a good idea in any form. Beyond satisfying their own need for moaning about something they probably cannot effect ofcourse. Calling people that dont want to do anything "lazy" is just laughable to me. Then one set of people, actually thinking through how much we can affect this situation in any meaningful manner & if the few ways that PERHAPS we could would be beneficial to us in the long run. Protesting/boycotting a cup game is clearly an improved idea, as its unlikely to have a negative effect on our season. Outside of that. Can someone who thinks its unimportant if we mess up this season please explain in what way we would be in a better position if we didnt go up this year, with a new owner, new players & a new manager. In comparison to this crap owner, with better players & a dodgy manager. I feel that it is arrogant/stupid to say the very f***ing least, to think that with a new owner & manager we will be able to shoot back up out of this league as if nothing happened. Because then OFCOURSE everything would go perfectly. Because the big bad wolf is gone, then we'd get the best owner willing to lavish money. The manager would be a god in the transfer Market & it will all be easy as piss, because we're Newcastle United. A big prem team. Players couldnt possibly underperform & we definately definately wouldnt put them under pressure if they did. Course not, its All Ashley. Once hes gone, we'll be in the champs league again easy peasy. Grow up man, this is stupid moronic fairytale nonsense.

Do you think its worth risking this season, purely to achieve him making a little less if we went up? Because i dont see much else of an effect it could have. He would still hold on for promotion & if it wasnt achieved he would likely leave either way. He wont be leaving until the outcome of this season is decided, unless the fans try to force a negative one much sooner than expected. Then i would doubt that that is the best outcome atall. It wouldnt be easy to get out of this decision after losing the majority of our best players, regardless of what owner we have. Its far to easy to underestimate that, because we're Newcastle United..and this leagues crap and blah blah blah. It all comes down to our players being better than theirs. Theres a lot of "we must fight", "if you do nothing you're apathetic and letting the club get ruined" etc talk going around. When really the majority of this fighting talk is based on impulse. I havent yet seen a well reasoned argument as to how we could effect this season in a way that would be beneficial to our club whilst also damaging the owner. You cannot significantly seperate the two at this point enough for them not to have an effect on eachother. I care more about the club being successful, than i do about "fighting" Mike Ashley.
  10. You know fine well that scoring headers and flicking them on are two very different things. To be fair at times he has been magnificent in turning pretty poor crosses into goal scoring opportunities/goals. He doesn't do it often enougn but then we don't get balls into the box enough either. The header that hit the post on Monday was superb. Pure class that was. Held off 3 defenders at the same time all jumping for it, so hes got the strength he needs also to be dangerous to any side. He's shown he can smack a ball also. If he improves his movement off the ball he'd have all the qualities needed to be a class centre foward. Just needs to find more space and use his left foot a bit more.
  11. Sorry what's the basis for this? Oh that's right there is none. Did you actually see the game? Did you actually see how wide it went. He had time to take that ball down and finish it. Just because you and my bitch Iceman Blue agree doesn't mean you are right, Carroll's shown on a few occassions he isn't a composed finisher under pressure. You said in your post 'should have buried that volley mind', now you would have liked him to take control of the ball and finish it? make your mind up What? It's the same thing, to bury a chance means to finish the chance, be it by vollying it or taking a touch. He didnt have time to take a touch, he had to hit it first time. Whether that was by placing it or having a smash. Either way he had Nolan coming back across him, with 3 defenders following the ball also who he'd just broken past, with the ball coming down from a long way up. It want anywhere close to an easy chance. Its very hard to place a ball coming down over you from that angle rather than across you. Anyway hes already smashed in two nice volleys this season, he hardly has bad technique on them.
  12. Saha's one of the few who was much better elsewhere & he was only here on loan. Cant think of many others.
  13. Steady...you don't want to scupper Jayson's year long anti-Coloccini campaign. The idea is to focus on the curly-haired defender's gaffes not any stuff he might do well. Interesting how the highlights give a better impression of how the match went than watching the whole match. I watched the game. Im hardly Anti colo, last season i said he was crap because he was. Havent mentioned him for ages, only brought it up because i was suprised. I thought he had a good game yesterday until looking back at their chances. This year ive been praising him mainly, its clear we're a much better side with him playing at the back...the same with Taylor. Didnt say anything otherwise anywhere. Just that once again its shown that he's nowhere near prem standard which id been hoping he could be with confidence. When you look at the individual errors he makes though which lead to chances as above....a lot of those will result in goals in the prem. Those are serious chances, not half chances. And thats down to his intelligence on the pitch not his confidence.
  14. Zog from what ive seen looks the same at wigan as he did here really. Like there might be a little spark in him, he'll make the odd surging run...hint at having some class about him & then produce very little the large majority of the time.
  15. Just watched the highlights again on the bbc. Suprising how crap colo looks when chances are all compressed together. He's no where near prem standard still. Literally everyone of their best chances involved him cocking up in some form. Their early chance sliced wide - loses his man. Next his diving header which fails to make any contact presents their next best opportunity. Then him going in to early for the tackle & a lad once again slicing it wide after going past him. The low chance harper saves with his legs - colo caught off balance and loses his man. Even the header harper miraculously saved at the end, the result of a flick on from the guy colos marking. Fair enough he puts pressure on them, but a premiership player would piss all over him. His anticipation of where a balls going to go is embarassingly bad.

Dont have much to say about it. Embarassing. I kind of expect this level of stupidity though now. Still dont think this is all part of some revenge. I think he really is moronic enough to see this as a positive form of advertisement until someone else comes in.
