  1. Anelka was willing to come. Not proven other than words from Souness, he was also thought to have a big attitude problem at that time also. Could easily have blown up in our face, especially under Souness of all people. As i say, rose tinted glasses. Everything other than Owen would supposedly have turned out perfectly for us. No one knows, it certainly isnt Owens fault regardless.

    Duff crocked again?

How many times has Duff started on the right this season? And how many balls has Taylor put on anyone's head? Duffs played several times on the right & taylor is a decent crosser of the ball why

    Duff crocked again?

Why is anyone comparing Duff to Jonas. The point is surely that Jonas would start on the left, Duff on the right. Unless you believe Geremi or R taylor offers more to the team. I think R taylor could, if only we had anyone who was half decent at heading.

    Duff crocked again?

As i say, bit of a coincidence then isnt it. Think he offers a lot more than most realise. He can cross, far better at attacking (directly) than our other wingers, better in possession, faster off the ball.....if he wasnt generally so crap at finishing hed be a pretty good player.

    Duff crocked again?

Bit of a coincidence that Duff has played in 5 of the 6 games we've won this season then, for someone whos so crap. Bigger blow for us than many will realise..
  6. What other players of Owens ability could we possibly have gotten at that time for a club in our position under Souness ? Realistically it is far more likely that the money would have been wasted on other rubbish just as Souness did with Luque & Boumsong. I fail to see how owen is anywhere near close to being a disasterous signing. As said, without him we may not even be in this division anymore. So many of you have rose tinted glasses on as if Newcastle is normally incredibly likely to spend our money on pure quality and Owen ruined it all for us. Its all complete bs aint it. As soon as he gets a couple goals most of you against him will be kissing his ass. Most of the criticism against him isnt based in reality, but just a general repetition of "he barely touches the ball"....which always fails to include any reason as to why this is realistically his fault based on Newcastles tactics.
  7. Prob can still hit and head a ball better than most of em, got a hatrick while ago in that charity match didnt he. He'd be a class coach though, could teach our strikers a whole load, then midfielders how to cross, how to be a good captain...movement off the ball etc. Even clearing the ball from set pieces, he did it all. Fact he's tied to us so strongly is only a good thing.
  8. can't understand the hate ? he's here for exactly the same reason as the rest in that we were the best available option at the time. oh, it's cause he's a massive part in our current predicament, in every sense never wanted to be here & would have been gone already given a sniff of a chance same goes for the vast majority of the squad no, it doesn't due to the size of the fee & wages vs return on said investment but i see what you're saying any decent human being would have signed a contract extension with us given what he's provided in terms of value...he hasn't, says it all hope he rots "Hope he rots"? Good god, man. It's only a game. I like how he says he's hated him being here, then says he should sign a contract extension. i didn't say i wanted either doofus, i was suggesting the man should have shown loyalty that's all So if he signs on you'll be pleased? not in the slightest, you? So i assume you're also annoyed that Boumsong, Luque etc are not still playing for us also. As they didnt provide value for money either did they...so they should have kept playing until they did so ? In reality any annoyance towards owen having not signed an extension also shows that you must still have a certain level of belief in his ability. Anyway, there are players all over the place that have not been value for money. If it doesnt work for them they move on & try something new. Hardly disgraceful that Owen might do the same, the only reason our fans are annoyed by it is because we're sh*t & they know that he has the potential to be great. christ 1. of course i'm annoyed by boumsong/luque etc but we shipped them FOR FEES before they walked away from the club for nothing on fractions of what owens "earned" 2. he has ability, the contract extension thing is about his integrity not his ability (or fitness) 3. how many have contributed so much to the decline of their club financially? Fees we shipped them for were near nothing on what we bought them for. So they earned less than owen ? They also provided less than owen. It could easily be said that owen was the main reason we survived relegation last season (How much would we have lost then?) & considering hes our top scorer this season....a big part of the reason we're not already relegated this season. You cannot solely look at negatives and fail to see any possible positives he has given our club. Not a very balanced point of view is it. I fail to see why he owes us anything, we paid him ridiculous amounts in the hope that he would be brilliant for us. He hasnt been for long periods due to injury which is neither sides fault. Why does he owe us ? He took what we offered like anyone with half a brain & hoped that it would be beneficial to both sides. Again it hasnt been.....so why would he keep hacking away at it here when he could get a fresh start elsewhere ? He doesnt owe us because we were wasteful with our money & spent it on a player who has been out through no fault of his own. 1,2,3 again then: 1. we're "shipping" owen for 17m less than we paid, and lord only knows how much in wages...see what you're saying but i simply don't agree; the 30m+ spent elsewhere would have meant we we nowhere near where we are now, spent wisely of course 2. i see very few positives so don't dwell on them, it's call realism & balance...in the last four years owen's negatives vs positives are palpable 3. i didn't say he owed us, i said a decent human being would have done something, 2 different things...still he's paid for his stable so good luck him him eh? Could say that about any of them though as i say, not just owen. Could have spent all of their money more wisely than we did, could have had a whole team full of class players so that we wouldnt even need to buy Owen etc etc. Its all ifs and buts isnt it, no reason to send more hate towards Owen than the others. As i said, you can easily balance up his increase in price/wage by saying hes provided far more to us than our other flops did. For all we know we could have spent the money on crap worse than Owen and been relegated by this point, why doesnt that come under consideration ? A decent Human being wouldnt necessarily devote his career endlessly to a club thats done nothing but damage it regardless of how much he'd made in the process. You cannot expect him to be eternally grateful, there has to be a cut off point where you give up and go for a fresh start sometimes.

  11. I've seen some scummy angry charv that commands as much respect as a traffic warden. If you haven't see that then you're the blind one. Plus there's the fact that he never plays, which makes him being captain a nonestarter. Thats why Enriques been class ever since he was called out by Barton during the Blackburn game. Must be a coincidence. Just like how the last two games we were even close to being half decent in were the ones barton came back into only to go off injured again - another complete coincidence. Think its pretty obvious Barton would be getting a place in our team without his injurys, so him being Captain in the future is very realistic. As i said, apart from Beye i see no one else in our squad capable of taking that position.
  12. A guy that would drive them on & actually speaks his mind instead of staying quiet all game. He clearly has the passion to do it & a determination to win. If you havent seen that you're blind.
  13. Should never have been made captain thats true. Clearly either Beye or Barton would be doing a far better job.
  14. Jayson

    Steven Taylor

Love his passion but he needs to calm down in 1 on 1 situations. In one of these games hes just going to get sent off & we'll be f****d because of it.
  15. to me it's in the head versus below the head - messi, ronaldo & gerrard all have technical skill but for me the physicality of gerrard/ronaldo mean they don't need the upstairs part...messi has it all (- the physicality) and that's why he's the best he does his thinking with his head not with his body so to speak...a scalpal vs a hammer... He's surprisingly tough IMO, can take a knock. aye yeah, but you've seen the SIZE of gerrard and ronaldo right? they knock people of the ball when they're on the run - messi will never do that, is what i'm getting at Yes Ronaldos well renowned for his strong physical strength and ability to stay up in a 1-1 battle
  16. Completely ridiculous article. Owen always had a lot more to his game than purely pace. Im pretty sure there was more to his game to be voted the best in europe than simply running around a whole lot. Perhaps there are other abilities that come into it. Like .......i dont know.... being able to read a game, his reaction speed, making good runs, good shooting ability etc The only time hes been given any space to do anything for us was under Keegan where he was dropped behind the front to which made him harder to mark = more space = he scored goals. Our lot cannot pass through midfield.......atall.....they lump long balls up to his head.....the guy is 5'8 ffs.....a 6'4 defender just stands on his heels all game and ppl wonder why he doesnt come into it. This whole "he's lost it" stuff is bs. Look at his finishing in both west ham games, v portsmouth, v stoke. No one else in our team has finished like that all season bar Martins goal v Aston Villa. His main issue is obviously being fit.....but once again.....we're Newcastle. If any club isnt going to be able to solve his physical fitness issues its us....i see no proof that he's done now atall.
  17. That's some squad overhaul...think we can realistically get 16-18 new players in/out and settled by an early August KO? Can't see any of the rest wanting to stay/us being able to afford them in the league below. Obviously you'd love to keep Taylor,Beye,Enrique but i can't for the life of me see it happening. Martins, Jonas, Colo, Bassong, Owen, Duke will all leave regardless Duff, Smith, Nolan, Geremi and that will move if we can find a buyer - suddenly you aren't left with much. Really would be starting again from scratch and although the positives of going down are minimal if at all, being able to flog the s**** that infests our squad and start again is one of them. Unfortunately i wouldn't trust those in charge to be able to do this effectively. For all of the bad feeling directed his way, Wise has brought in: Zamblera (before his arrival?) Soderberg Jonas Guthrie Bassong Coloccini Ranger Xisco Gonzalez (loan) Lovenkrands Vuckic Nolan Ryan Taylor Obviously there's a few kids in there, but they've shown some glimpses of something, the other signings (IMO) have been of the quality required for the club. The main concern should be about whether or not he brings in ENOUGH players of the necessary quality, which appears to have been the sticking point for many people with regards to this season's squad. I think we'll have more of a say (or more of a chance) in keeping those players who are a little younger and have 3 or 4 years left on their deals. We're pretty much guaranteeing them a season of first team football and a chance to be a part of the SJP 'rebuilding' project. From then on, it's going to be down to the choice of manager. The only signing Wise has supposedly made of any quality for the first team so far has been Jonas (Unless Jeff Vetere spotted him). The rest have either been not good enough or spotted by Keegan/Kinnear. Think he should stick to scouting the kiddies & we can get someone else in.
  18. Who the f*** wants a quick fix??? We had a quick fix last time round and this is where we are now! Move on!!! Keegan's legend status is on the ropes, and if he returns it will surely end in tears again, leaving his popularity with our fans in tatters. If you call being saved from relegation a "quick fix" then sure id have a quick fix all day long. Last time we had the quick fix we were saved from relegation, you may remember. Ashley & co are the ones that cocked up, no one else.
  19. Because Raylor is shocking at RM True Didnt see game on sat went away for week, what did he do that was so bad. He got us a pen didnt he? Did alright against Man united there to, his big mistake being at right back position.
  20. Why not go for 3-5-2 -------------------Harper----------------- --------Beye------Colo-----Enrique---- Rtaylor--Nolan--Smith--Butt--Jonas- -------------Loven---Martins------------ Or just play Owen behind the two front men where he might get some space to be half useful. Or anything but a 4-4-2 formation that will obviously fail without bassong
  21. Both Martins & Owens goal/game ratio this season is better than Cahill/yakubu....considering the difference in quality of the rest of the players in each side...bit silly to say they wouldny make your first team. They've been producing in a side without a midfield all season, theyd thrive in even a decent midtable team who can half pass. Rest i agree with. Jonas, bassong, Beye, Owen, Martins, Barton are our key/best players. 4 of them have been out for much of the season at dif times, which is why we are where we are.
  22. Only game i believe Hughton had any say in recently was the Man united game, as we left out Ameobi & played Lua Lua. Giving a chance to a youngster and not playing Ameobi cannot possibly be Kinnear. From every game since then they've played Ameobi. Cant be the same person picking teams.
  23. Really does just look like it is our time to go down. Near everythings going against us this season at key times. Not good.
  24. Think the point being made was that Kinnear is probably a large part of why we're currently doing sh*te. He is most likely imposing his ideas onto Hughton who is just kissing as much ass as possible atm. Kinnear is the one picking Ameobi, he has to be.
  25. Dont believe that atall. Even they cannot be so moronic that they would choose Kinnear with much better options available. In reality, Llambias perception of "top managers" is probably different from ours.
