I never said it's inevitable he'll pick them up every game without fail. I said it's inevitable he'll pick up some yellow cards. If he avoided yellows every game that would mean for example he'd shirk the opportunity to make a professional foul at a crucial time. The best players in the world at his position pick up yellow cards, it's part and parcel of the position. If he was coming out of a season with say less than 5 yellows then IMO he's simply not applying himself at the highest level. He's actively involved for 90 minutes, making challenges, pressuring the ball covering miles of ground in the process. He is going to pick up yellow cards, however overall it will win us more points than it will cost us and is a good thing. Maybe he could have a few less, but then I think he's been harshly done by for about half of his cards so he's already at an acceptable level.

The injustice is bad enough without the ridiculous inconsistency.

Of course it would be nice if he didn't get any but he'd be nigh on the perfect midfielder if that was the case. IMO I think atleast half of those yellows and the red have been rubbish decisions, he's not really THAT much of a dirty player. Jesus wept. Well, not 'often' but maybe a few times. Colocho, your argument here is absolute nonsense tbh. If a player is up to the task then they are good enough, regardless of age. Williamson isn't 'top class' but despite your personal vendetta he's also not the anti-christ. Hell, there's a guy playing for Deportivo who played amateur football in France until he was 27 while working as a bus conductor at the same time. Now after a season or 3 professionally in Portugal he's playing in the Spanish top flight for one of the traditional Spanish 'big boys'. Some players simply slip through the net, or don't round their game off to their full potential until much later than others. Williamson has done the rounds in the lower divisions, stepped up to the Championship and is now a more than able Premier League squad player. He's not got the best physical or technical attributes but he reads the game resonably well, plays things safe and has got the best out of his natural ability level.

Have DPR got a new manager or something? Seem to remember they had a ridiculously stubborn defence for the last qualifying campaign, yet they look lost defensively here.
