I heard about him a while ago and remember watching videos in awe, and he was mentioned in a podcast I listen to the other day. Maradona seemed to rate him very highly. I have to say I was only 5-6 years old when he was in his prime, but he was still a great player to watch during his latter years in La Liga. Extremely unprofessional and unfocused, sadly. Shame. Just watching Youtube videos of him now, some of the things he does with the ball are incredible. As good close control and dribbling as anybody in the modern game, infact I think there is definitely similarities to Messi in the few snippets I've watched. Seems to do the 'Elastico' trick that Ronaldinho made his own aswell, doubt there were many players with that kind of trickery in their locker back then.

They are penniless, plus have had 3 managers in the past months, of which the latter two (Arconada and Mandiá) I don't rate at all. They still have pretty decent players for this level, but they won't contend for promotion in my opinion. Who do you think will be promoted? We were awful in '06 aswell, ditched out limply by the first half decent side we faced. Infact, I think we were much better in 2002 than we were in 2006.

Yesterday was crying out to give Wilshere a game in the centre. The kid is streets ahead of Barry in terms of passing, vision, technique etc already. I don't really see what harm it would have done, Barry is just a slow waste of a position who is only going to get worse.

I just find it inexplicable you'd sacrifice an England win tonight to see 2 teams who aren't in their group draw. I'd be asking the same thing even if it wasn't a match involving Northern Ireland. It was in jest more than anything ffs. It was a fun game to watch, though.
