Tbf I can name a Sunderland team better than that. Nostalgia for 1st division players clouds their selection.
  2. Hope he scores exclusively terrible goals and wheels away like a mad man every time
  3. Like I said in the other thread I've seen quite a lot of him for the national team. He's good in the air and decent on the ball. Likes to play long raking passes like Lejeune. Also a big threat from set pieces usually. There was a spell during qualifying for the last Euros where he was scoring every other game. That said, he's not the quickest and a card magnet. H missed the last 16 game against Sweden due to a daft yellow, which ultimately cost them a quarter final place when Djourou came in. Probably this is the reason there's not more teams interested. Personally I think it's both a decent gamble at 3.5m, but also a reflection of how pathetic we are.
  4. It's in Blick (swiss version of the Sun) as well, but they might be just copying the Mirror.
  5. The problem with Reyes (as a free agent) and Schaer (having a low clause) is while they're in our price range we'll have even more competition with clubs over wages so makes them even less likely to sign
  6. Gateshead have gone part time as well. Shows how shit he is.
  7. I've seen a lot of Schaer. He's a bit of an accident waiting to happen and a card magnet, but in the right team can be solid and he's a big threat on set pieces. I think as a Rafa defender, he's a better option than Mbemba, even if Mbemba is quicker and better on the ball. For 3 million he makes a lot of sense as a 4th CB.
  8. Always daft these things. The Italian Supercoppa is to be in Saudi Arabia in January while the Saudi Super Cup is at Craven Cottage again in August.

    Sunderland

All 6 goals scored by players from their academy.
  10. In general terms for the current youth players, yes. In the case of a young player that has already proven himself successful at League 1 level - no. Maybe. However, if a player is reaching 21 and has never been involved at any England level I'd be a bit apprehensive about his PL potential. Obviously there's counter examples and lets hope he's one of them.
  11. In 2005 the currency rate would have been £1=1.5 Euros, so that figure is about right. Bit of a daft way of calculating it though.
  12. I think predicting one of our youth players will make a career for himself in the Football League is a fairly optimistic post to be honest.
  13. Or we're potentially short of bodies with Hayden's situation.
  14. That's the average rating from their matches throughout the tournament I assume. 7 is a very good average score the way they do it It's not though, it's slightly above average I guarentee there's barely an 8 or a 9 among any of those players' individual match scores. It's a nonsense. The idea of 5 being the average is a great one in principal if you use the entire spectrum, but they don't.
  15. He'll never be PL standard like. Should make a decent Football League career out of himself though.
  16. Doesn't surprise me. Know a few lads who've packed theirs in. Was tempted to get mine back up until the last couple of weeks, purely for Rafa, but won't be bothering now. Sad that the club won't give me even the slightest bait. Got a few new away grounds to tick off in the new year, so I'll just be grabbing tickets where I can and doing them instead.
  17. Their rating system is stupid. There's no point in a rating system of 1-10 if you never give players a high score. The whole team is rated slightly above average. Nonsense.
