Bossed by their midfield and totally vanished for long stretches of the game. Becoming a bit mental how many people ignore his inability to impose himself on the opposition, our possession statistics this season are shite largely because we've gone from having a top class CM to having a player who wins his plaudits when he's chasing after others. Wullie was spot on describing him as an underdog player. Tiote was fucking abysmal as well by the way. The pair of them were a joke, I expect a lack of creativity but I don't expect them to be so poor as to not even give us a foothold in the game.

NUFC 0 - 1 Sunderland - 21/12/14 - reaction to Pardew's derby run from page 43
ponsaelius replied to LRD's topic in Football
Aye but we had local lads this time! We had Colback! That was the problem last year right?!?! Amazing how many people just ignore the common demoninator in our defeats. Sunderland totally and utterly bossed the game, played the better more controlled football and fashioned out numerous chances. They didn't 'want it more' or have any of these simplistic platitudes that people boil every single derby game down to. They just went out and played far better football than us again, while we played the same shite disjointed football we always play under Pardew exaggerated by his derby day routine of having us play with 'aggression' and 'intensity'. -

Colback crack is absolutely lifting. Could be two of the biggest clubs in Europe instead the biggest plotline of the game and probably both our seasons is some run-of-the-mill free transfer playing in the derby. -

would have him player/manager tomorrow morning. Him attacking Bruce has cemented legend status in my mind.

Pardew seems to think 'intensity' and 'being up for it' is all that matters. Fact is we started last years running about in 'derby mode' while they played the fucking match. -

Spurs 4-0 Newcastle United - 17/12/14 - Post Match Reaction from page 25

This. Support was superb. Was so good in the lower tier in the corner. That's where we were, towards the back. Looked like there was a bit of bother between some lads and stewards second half? Probably some fans threatening to enjoy themselves after travelling from London. Maybe tried to eat some crisps from outside or were obscuring an advertisement of some sort. Possibly. The situation before the game was a disgrace like, didn't feel safe at all. Also there was a lot of people who were clearly very, very drunk and a bit angry generally. Hate the "We hate cockneys" patter, mind. Had a class chat with a couple of Spurs fans after the game and not only were they sound but they understood why we hated Pardew. Fair do's. I don't like it either but it's a two way street with their lot giving it the 'we pay your benefits' and 'northern scum' stick. -
I pictured him as 7 goal a season Piquionne type, he's not even that ffs
-
I'd happily see him shipped back to France on January 1st. He's fucking dogshit.

Atmosphere is frequently great when you're getting gubbed like. Not like there's out else you can do in that situation. -
Eredivisie is a league full of young promising players still developing. Naive defending coupled with an inclination towards attacking football breads goalscoring forwards. It's actually been great at producing strikers over the years (Suarez, van Nistelrooy, Romario, Ronaldo, Bergkamp, RvP, Makaay, Ibrahimovic, Huntelaar, Bony etc) but its also inflated the records of some average players (Ruiz, Altidore, Kezman, El Hamdoui, Bas Dost, Nkufo, Vennegoor of Hesselink etc). Even Michael Higdon scored 14 there last season. It's hit and miss, but de Jong scoring some goals again now he's back really doesn't prove much. He was poor in Germany and here. Languid, slow running style, and no aggression to his play for such a big striker. You need ridiculous technique (Berbatov) or be a first rate poacher (Gomez) to make up for those deficiencies.

I've never seen somebody so unable to strike a ball cleanly or get involved in the game positively. I remember him play OK away at Hull when they were beyond shite but that's about it.

The Yorkie - Brewcie thing's not new like, he's always had a thing for him. Everybody has their daft opinions like when I thought Bendtner had potential.
-
No. He was very bad at the football.

Anybody going then? I'm heading down. Biggest game we've had since Benfica. Can quite easily see another week like that one happening as well. -
