  1. The club website article about the parade does literally say it will turn left at the bottom of Gallowgate onto Percy Street
  2. I'm really interested to see how busy it's going to be and where people end up. There's gonna be people congregating on top of the multistoreys along Percy Street unless they block access.
  3. I think he'll go for about what Livramento cost plus add ons tbh.
  4. Pretty sure the announced road closures are to prevent through traffic into the city centre, not the bus route itself. The route will be as above. Would be cool if it was to go past monument like.
  5. Fair - I had the route the wrong way round tbf when I posted in here the other day but they had been trying to sort it from the outset.
  6. Because it hadn't been signed off by the relevant authorities, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that it was always the plan. They went public with the Town Moor event because they needed to gauge numbers and capacity.
  7. 'Sense has taken place' - they were always going to do a parade man
  8. Completely two footed IMO.
  9. From what I've read it seems likely Everton will bite the bullet in selling Branthwaite to fund a bit of a squad rebuild. Wouldn't be at all surprised if we considered him.
  10. It wasn't just us - lots of big clubs looked at Huijsen last summer. The lad ended up going to Bournemouth for a large part because he was guaranteed to play every single game at 19 and because the club were happy to include a very achievable release clause for him to make a big move 1-2 years down the line. That is their transfer model - as it is with Brighton. As much as we can't afford to make every player a sure thing first starter, we equally can't afford to 'spread our bets' on a load of cheaper development project players on the promise of them moving on from us. It's a fine balance to strike and I think people have been overly critical of our transfer policy at times given our hit rate.
  11. Spot on - he's overcame that doubt for me too. Plus we smacked a full strength Arsenal 4-0 over two legs as well - and showed huge tactically flexibility to achieve that. This cup win should give him pretty much unlimited credit in the bank going into the next couple of years to get the next step right.
  12. Obviously it goes without saying but as a club we were extremely unlucky to end up with Mike Ashley just right at the point where European football, and the Premier League, was about to go into overdrive in terms of global TV exposure and commercial growth. Ashley might actually have been an acceptable football club owner in the 90s (particularly at a smaller club) - but in an era where speculating to accumulate (and thinking beyond the bottom line season to season) suddenly became the thing you had to do he was the worst possible owner you could possibly have.
  13. I'd be annoyed if we don't price him out of a move basically. He has three years left - we can absolutely afford to keep him another year without seeing any drop in value. If no new deal is signed then you have to consider it next year probably, but not now.
  14. Don't really think the level of investment we've had so far is particularly different to what could have been achieved with any other rich owner or investment consortium. PSR has meant that all we've really done is spend to bring the club and squad up to where we should have been operating at anyway in terms of commercial revenue and wage bill - and the club has made lots of very good decisions to get to where we have done. If they write a blank cheque which means we get a brand new stadium and training ground without being saddled with debt, then you can say that PIF have then made a mark other owners wouldn't have been able to. But that hasn't happened yet, and still might not. The above reality makes me enjoy the cup win more tbh.
  15. How did I not know Depay was at Corinthians
  16. It's because it's not been signed off yet but that's the plan apparently. The town moor thing is being ticketed and posted now is because they need to be ably to gauge capacity to plan for it
  17. A parade down Great North Road, Percy St and to the ground is the plan.
  18. It says in the instructions it's only from 1pm for ST holders so it won't be live yet. I don't think this is a ballot is it? It just seems like it's gauging interest for capacity/security etc?
  19. I've heard bus route is down Great North Road, along Percy Street and then up to the ground. The big bus shelter on Percy St next to Claremont Teahouse is going to need to be temporarily removed to stop people climbing on it apparently.
  20. But Man United have also bought lots of young players from Europe too, that were supposed to represent value, that have bombed or not worked out. The culture of the club is all wrong and that's their biggest issue. Buying from other PL clubs for a slightly inflated fee isn't bad transfer policy if you want to be a club that competes for titles. And to be honest with PSR squeezing the PL now there's a chance you might actually start to see that fees aren't that different.
  21. There's clearly merit in paying slightly more for a player once they've settled in the league and are more of a sure thing to come straight in and improve a side. That's how big clubs operate at first team level for a reason and Liverpool basically built their entire success on this as it significantly mitigates risk. Not that it should be the only type of signing we make, but equally I wouldn't want to just make all our signings cheaper punts.
  22. Love how determined Trippier was to get Lascelles involved in the trophy lift
