You can still see he's physically declined big style. It's inevitable at 34/35 in that position. It was just exacerbated by the fact his head was also all over the place IMO. Glad he's having a bit of an Indian summer right now but still think he's on borrowed time and we should probably move him on in the summer to ensure he goes out on a high.

On him being a dickhead I changed my mind when I saw this

Could do aye. Surprised it hasn't been rumoured already, probably because we've got a million keepers. Would mean we could name one more outfield player which would be useful. At the moment we're going to have a squad of 22 in Europe (21 non club then players + Longstaff). If Longstaff goes, we'd only be able to name 21 as we'd have no club grown players. Worth noting Miley doesn't need to be named in the squad as he's under 21.
-
We're not short of English club grown players though. You only need 4 in a European squad - and we've got loads. It's the 4 club grown players we are short of.

Frankfurt are shite

Not massively impressed by Frankfurt despite the early goal, look a bit chaotic

Sell Isak and buy him
-
Given our limited Club HG options there's a likelihood he wouldn't be in a European squad is the only issue with that. We will probably be limited to 22 senior players (21 if Longstaff goes) so then he'd almost certain likely be left out like Ritchie was last year. These kind of cheerleader type players don't really help us in Europe - but you're unlikely to want to play them in the league.

I don't think it worked, they've not really come close to winning the CL outside of the COVID year tournament. The whole thing has been a bit of a debacle IMO given the resources available. They've got it right now but a French club with unlimited moneh spending 50 million a pop on Doue, Dembele and Barcola just seems the obvious thing to do really.
-
I mean, they have an unlimited budget and the best domestic/local talent pool of young players available to recruit from. It is a bit incredulous that is has taken them them over a decade stumble across building an actual football team.

What is a high profile signing? Liverpool don't really do that whatever it is meant to mean - they sign the right players that fit their system and often target those already in the PL. Mbeumo seems an absolutely obvious Liverpool signing to me in terms of positional fit and mentality. As for him being underwhelming for us that is crazy talk.
-
I actually foresaw a situation where he was released but hung around to continue his recuperation and potentially signed a short term deal, so this isn't all that different if we've triggered a 1 year extension on the sly. Not sure about it really - but wouldn't question the logic if Howe thinks it's worthwhile. Can kind of see it if we end up in the Europa or Conference. CB is such a critical position for us in terms of squad building. We desperately need a new RCB in this summer - but will be in a position where Burn and Schar could also need replacing entirely by next summer when they are 33 and 34. Throw in Botman's injury situation and it's definitely a position we need to start being proactive for long term and prevent needing an overhaul. The links to the likes of Jumah Bah (who City ended up signing) shoes we're obviously looking at addressing it beyond an immediate first team signing

Would also be impossible since they'll play each other in the semis.

Regardless of any buy back clause the lad would have to agree to go back still. He might not, as there's no guarantee City would sell him straight away. In fact it would probably be in his interests to go direct from Ipswich to a new club as he could get a bigger signing on fee due to the lower transfer fee. Buy back clause only really work in this situation when they're the only club that have it and they can subvert the market - in this case it seems there's a relegation clause open to everybody so there's no advantage or leverage to be exploited.
-
2 year deal so I wouldn't be surprised if you're right. Can see him having a big physical decline in the next year and then getting a fee next summer.
-
If Salah went I'd have had him highly likely to go there personally. Seems an absolutely quintessential Liverpool signing to me - versatile forward already proven in the PL but with age still on his side ala Mane, Jota etc. There really isn't many goalscoring right forwards about. Liverpool offering the money to keep Salah probably goes against their transfer policy, but seems the best option given lack of options on the market.
-
Probably opens up Mbeumo as option if we really wanted him.
-
Never coming here I don't think but we should be all the over that.

PL is full of identikit southern clubs from wealthy areas backed by rich owners. There's also been so many tinpot non league clubs that get backed by local businessmen and pushed up through the leagues on unsustainable models. I think it's great that they've picked a downtrodden team with a history of horrific ownership and located in one of the most deprived areas of the country to invest in. Wrexham as a club have always had potential - the catchment area covers all of north Wales and there's a clear identity there to lean in to. Good luck to them.
-
Hope they do. Would offer a lot more to the Championship than Wycombe.

All set up for Villa to win the CL

ITK knobber on twitter (one who usually gets reasonable bits and pieces) saying the injury is worse than first thought and they're a bit worried about how long it's going to take to heal.
