West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
ponsaelius replied to Pilko's topic in Football
Aye, but theoretically would you rather spend say £20 million bringing Carroll back or use £20 million on 5 Cabaye/Tioté type signings? -

Probably the latter, or he could genuinely be the Geordie Michael Ricketts. -
Anyway, having an opinion that turns out to be wrong is one thing. Those posts are something else. Like Cajun said, it just backs up the stereotypes about Newcastle fans. Only other forum I see the same kind of shite is on RTG, which says a lot.

I've had some stinkers in the past, but nobody knows about them to dig them up.

No, he's shite. -
Gerrard's vs Boro should be on there.
-
Actually, one I always thought was overrated was Torres vs Blackburn. People were going on about it for seemingly ages.
-
Disagree personally, sheer class.

Erik Edman's against Liverpool is something else. Can't even remember that happening for some reason.

Man United have never spent on African players, seemingly by rule. Even less likely with two ACoN in a row.

Nicknamed Twiggy. There was a lass at Prudda who was nicknamed Twiggy cos legend had it she used to get herself off with twigs she found on the floor. Definitely did it atleast once, anyway. Classy.

Atletico, like NUFC, is where good defenders go to die.

Don't understand the persistant Chelsea like. He's really not the kind of midfielder they need.

I watched the Czech - Holland game from Euro 2004 the other day, Heitinga was playing RB and was bombing up and down like Cafu. Nothing like the player he is today. Then he got sent off, which made more sense.

Buurrrnnnnn, Neil will agree with that though KD. Edit: as he has done

yep. Only want us to go through so the kids get more games. Carroll, Townsend, Rose and to a lesser extent Livermore are players i really rate and never dissapoint when playing. So you don't want to try and win it?
-
Just 1 more goal needed in either game for turnaround?
-
Aye, it kinda doesn't.
-
Yep, really growing into the role too. Looks more relaxed than he has for a few years and I can see him having his best goalscoring season ever this year. Still annoys me how much of a mercenary he is, though.
-
Very true.

I'd say the biggest mistake he's made is signing Ibra, who didn't fit in and actually set them back - as much as I rate him as a player. If they'd gone for Villa a season early they'd probably have won 3 CL in a row.

Daft thing to say tbh. Yup. Easy to forget that when Pep got the job Barca had just finished 3rd, 18 points behind Madrid and 10 behind Villarreal with a squad that was largely recognised to have egos and cliques running things behind the scenes. Cleared the last generation (Ronaldinho, Deco etc), built the team around a hard working ethic encorporating the pressing game when off the ball etc and went on to win 6 trophies in a calender year. He's done a great job bringing through people like Busquets, Pedro (who was close to being sold), buying and then turning Pique into one of the best CBs around, changing Messi's role into the one he's in today and making him so effective. He's still adapting and innovating the team now and they don't look like easing up on the success. The players were there and the philosophy is largely engrained but he's moulded them into the all conquering team that they are today (it's only since his spell began that Iniesta and Xavi have become truly recognised for what they are). It's laughable the way people go on that it's easy to do what he's achieved, if people want say that then you could say the same about Mourinho or any other 'top club' manager. It's just lazy. Great thinker and very good coach, without doubt. I really hope he comes to England when he finishes in Spain.

The Life and Times of 'Entertaining' Mario Balotelli

Yeah, they're close mates apparently. Infact, that probably explains it - a nothing bust up between two friends.
