He's got a wife and kid so I'm not sure the phone thing is true

You'll have to explain futher Skirge, it sounds like gibberish if you're not watching SSN

I'm not sure who you're laughing at Dave. I don't think he had any intention of staying, I was showing more evidence of him stringing us along.
-
The club might've known all along that he wanted to leave but they still have to wait for an offer. There may have been a possibility of him staying if no offers came in. As Jose said himself if he has to stay here then he's happy. I do agree another LB could've been lined up in principle though. I'm not trying to make sense of everything because it would be too hard to considering all the contradictions/lies that come out of the club, just putting other explanations out there.

I hold some ill feeling towards him. He was paid handsomely throughout his time here, had one good season in the Championship, then 6 very good months in the Premiership before his head was turned and he started acting like a prat. The way he practically cut communications with the fans (went from weekly in-depth interviews about the club/players/fans/area/etc to saying f*** all) reaked of agent instructions to maintain radio silence whilst his services were whored out to someone willing to pay him significantly more money. The twitter rant was also pathetic, we let fatty Nolan go and bring in a decent number of players with over half the window remaining and he throws his toys out of the pram. He's a c***, no different to Owen, or Beye, or any other footballer who sold the fans his twaddle then ran as soon as the opportunity arose. I've been calling him a prick/c*** all summer because he turned cold towards the fans as soon as his head was turned, and I'll certainly continue calling him a c*** for as long as he's wearing a Liverpool shirt. I think you need to grow up and come to terms with the fact that footballers leave clubs from time to time. He could've came out and been honest still, instead of lying and saying he was waiting until we were safe. Everyone on here seems to slate Bassong but at least he had the balls to say he wanted out, rather than the likes of Duff and Beye who pledged their loyalty but the weaseled out when the chance arrived. Small point, but he never said that. Just like he never said he wanted to sign for a Champions League club. Said something similar didn't he? Or at least his agent did? Nope, it all came from Alan 'Andy Carroll is definitely not for sale at any price' Pardew, on behalf of his invisible Managing Director if we're to believe Pardew has f*** all say in contract negotiation (as I've also seen people claim on here). I think the two claims are different tbh. Re: Carroll, Pardew either lied to us or was lied to. Re: Jose, Pardew either lied to us or was lied to. Why wouldn't Jose set the record straight?

What's wrong with what he put there? It's exactly the same principle as people have been posting all summer about us not appearing to spend the Carroll money. He wasn't making any point at all, just posting some figures.
-
Where did i say anything about where he was going? Its been 8 months at least of him avoiding signing a deal but yeah lets ignore that sort of thing. Imo he wanted to leave regardless this summer, the twitter rant was a desperate plea to aid that but not the main reason. If it was that obvious he wants out and always has been it's a f***ing joke that we're selling him two days before the start of the season, with nobody else in months ago. All about the coin as per usual, and f*** the team if it suffers. I didn't just mean you btw. It may well be all smoke and mirrors from the club, but surely we have actually wait for a bid from another team. I think binnsy recently said Liverpool wanted Clichy and Jose was the back up plan, if this is true then it makes sense that nothing happened until around now.

What's changed since we offered him a new contract? The club knew what type of player/person he was then. I don't see how we can't just loan him out every year for the next five years and see what he does.
-
Arsenal will have the perfect blend of youth and inexperience this season.
-
Simpson should've went rock.
-
A new contract could be the morale boost the club needs.
-
He played against Fiorentina
-
Weird to see Llambias with his kit on near the pitch.
-
Already confirmed he wouldn't. Too much pressure on the number.
-
Most people seemed to want Forster in judging by posts from last season, what's changed?

To be fair, didn't Harps say that he was constantly looking for other opportunities during his time on the bench? It's just that he never kicked up a fuss when they didn't go through. To be honest though he's hardly going to say otherwise is he? In Sir Bobby's autobiography he talks about how they made Harper so well paid because the club and Harper knew he was number 2, so paid him more than the going rate to keep him. On the subject of Harper and ambition, Harper got to play Champions League football and an FA Cup final during his time here, its doubtful that he would've got that elsewhere even if he would've been a no. 1.

Chronicle says we're 'closing in' on him

We've spent £18m net. What's wrong with that? Chelsea paid for Suarez and Carroll. But you are spending the money regardless on over inflated transfer fees ,Carroll £35 million and Henderson for £20 million and i find it laughable ,every transfer has a element of risk and we have paid well over the odds for years until now but Liverpool fans having a go at Chelski is hypocrytical in my eyes . My point about Carroll stands, though. £35m is a ridiculous price, but it's not the case that we p*ssed away the Torres money: we were only interested in replacing him, and when Ashley asked for £35m, we just passed it on to Chelsea. You still (arguably) didn't get value for money though. Irrespective of where the money came from, you received £50m and spent £35m of it on a striker who, whilst he did have a very good half season, hasn't proven a lot yet.
