  1. Also, True Faith inviting letters on the issue: http://www.true-faith.co.uk/tf/features.nsf/0/B2ADC3CAB47ED28B8025765C008039A1?OpenDocument
  2. Whoever mentioned RyanAir earlier on might have been on to something. They're the only company I can think of that want to get their name around as much as possible and don't give a fuck what anyone thinks of them. We're going to charge you for the toilets, aye. Publicity. Every geordie fucking hates us cos we're responsible for them having their ground renamed. Publicity.
  3. Ignoring the implications with the fans which would probably make this one a dumb deal for any company, they will get their name around very often due to the naming rights. Newspaper reports, television coverage, radio coverage, Sky Soccer Saturday, whatever. I read an article about this in uni and it's very popular in Germany. But yeah, word-of-mouth you can forget it in the short-term at least.
  4. What's the craic with the Council owning the land again? Does that have any bearing on whether the stadium can be renamed? Yes, I'm clutching at straws.
  5. Yep. I was expecting the Hughton thing and hoping against the club coming off the market but the stadium rights thing is just a fucking disgrace. It seems deliberately antagonistic to me.
  6. What kind of daft company would want to buy the naming rights anyway? They'd make themselves monumentally unpopular and doubtless be on the receiving end of a lot of boycotts. Plus every fucker would call it St James Park anyway.
  7. Fucking hell. Naming rights bollocks is the icing on the cake. I hate this man.
  8. Can't for the life of me spot Elijah Wood.
  9. understanding ashleys motives on any decision is an exercise in futility, all i can speculate on the hughton appointment is one of a) he doesn't think this deal is going to happen so is planning for the rest of the season b) attempt to force moats hand a bit by saying hughton is going to be appointed as manager c) the deal will go through and this is to make things that little bit more difficult for moat if/when he's in out of spite d)it was a completely random decision With Ashley, random always seems the best bet. The timing of his decisions are always as insane as the decision itself.
  10. How good is Adam Johnson by the way? I'd only seen glimpses of him to be honest, but I saw the highlights yesterday and he looks a fantastic player. Very intelligent and lots of pace.
  11. If i had to guess i'd probably say Ranger, given that Hughton's attitude towards his talents seems to have changed recently L8 (like a banana).
  12. Got paid today, gave what I could manage on my London chimney sweep wages. I don't use Paypal much so let me know if I've knacked it up, cheers.
  13. You could well be right there... Well given that it's taught in school these days, to be a homosexual according to Nick Griffin, I am not surprised. GM, can you handle this? I don't think you can handle this. Wullie can you handle this? I don't think you can handle this I don't think im ready for some berrys my Hughton too bootylicious for ya That's brilliant.
  14. People are a bit cranky in here tonight, it's like we just got beat off fucking Scunthorpe or something. We don't pay the wages, babatunde is correct on that score, but there's a world of difference between having a go at NUFC players for going out on the piss when we're playing shite and having a go at a McDonalds employee cos you bought a Big Mac therefore you can.
  15. Get over yourself man. You have no idea about real life. Have you ever even been to Britain? People here comment on all sorts of things, size, appearance, the clothes you wear, the car you drive. That is what happens. So you honest think that professional sportsmen should be out drinking alcohol before matches? Is that not just a piss take on your part? You make it sound like they are downing a can of stella on the bus down. If a player is out what right do you have to go up and begin insulting him, in that theory, I should be well within my rights to come up to you in the street and begin shouting abuse at you. I might be opening a can of worms here but do you pay Blefuscu's wages? No, but you don't pay the players wages either. You are simply a customer of the product which they help to provide. The players are paid by the firm that they work for (Just like you) which in this case happens to be Newcastle United. Just because you eat at McDonalds doesn't mean that you are "paying the wages" of the employees or that you have any right to abuse them. I was being bawdy Lynn, enjoy it. http://www.gazmac.freeserve.co.uk/aha1.htm

I might be opening a can of worms here but do you pay Blefuscu's wages? There's a joke in there that I must avoid. But, Blefuscu choses to pay those players wages, if she feels that strongly about her distaste stop going to the games, buying the shirts etc. In no way is she forced to buy these things, it isn't taken from her wages in Tax, it is , in essence a hobby. Aye but I have a right to my opinion too Nixon, as does everyone. Couldn't agree more, but it's the way you express that opinion that we are debating. By going up and shouting at the players, you are gaining nothing, you are abusing them. Why should they be bothered when in town? I'm not sticking up for them, but this whole 'They are all fair game, let's tell them what we think.' It is crazy. Should they be out on the drink regularly? And if that's alright, should they have the common sense to not do it after we've been humiliated? I think I'm making a slightly different point to Blefuscu in saying that I wouldn't abuse them personally but they're idiots if they don't expect stick in a football-obsessed city like ours if they go out on the lash after getting beat off Scunthorpe.

  18. Because that is harassment. Yell at the players at the pitch all you want, but doing it in public crosses the boundary in my opinion. Give over man. That is pathetic. They don't mind the praise when they are doing well, they should take the flack when they are doing s****. If they are out drinking in Newcastle when they have a game in the next couple of days they deserve to know what the paying fans think. Why should they be harassed in public? Are they not free citizens with rights? You seem quick to play the victim, yet you won't acknowledge the rights of others. Maybe they should have the sense to keep a fucking low profile for a couple of days. Would take the piss if they're out on the drink in the next few days. It's part of the job being recognised and it's also quite often part of the job getting paid about 40 grand a week. Swings and roundabouts, I reckon I'd just stay in.
  19. Can't echo any of the feelings of apathy from some on here, I'm absolutely gutted. It really hits you full on in the face where we're at when we play a league match at a club that is breaking their attendance record, which is shy of 9,000. And then we lose to them. Fucking shite.
  20. Spot on Hughton, Ranger's proved time and time again he only needs a few minutes to change a game.
