So, its not relevant imo what everyone else does. This is a case about Newcastle United, our club, our identety. I dont give a flying fuck if Spurs, Everton, Man u whatever club does it, so be it, let em flush down everything that is tradition. We wont accept it, we are proud of our stadium, and its legacy. It would simpley be a direct hit at the spine of the club and city. Cant belive people take so easy on it, just bend over and let Ashley bumfuck the living shit out of the supporters and club...

Ashley to keep club, put £20m in and consider stadium naming rights
Interpolic replied to Ashley17's topic in Football
Another way of looking at it is that it is an issue which almost unanimously unites our usually fractured and increasingly apathetic support. Good thing imo, but I know what you mean about it not exactly being the biggest issue - it's more just a cheeky, humiliating kick in the bollocks when we're already lying in the gutter. -
Canny.

Aye. I must admit the Liverpool match in December was when I really thought we were in with a very good chance of going down. That was the only home match I managed last season due to moving to the other end of the country and being perennially skint. My next home match? Peterborough at home...

Phil Brown leaves Hull?...No, but the chairman does.

Whoever mentioned RyanAir earlier on might have been on to something. They're the only company I can think of that want to get their name around as much as possible and don't give a fuck what anyone thinks of them. We're going to charge you for the toilets, aye. Publicity. Every geordie fucking hates us cos we're responsible for them having their ground renamed. Publicity.
-
Ignoring the implications with the fans which would probably make this one a dumb deal for any company, they will get their name around very often due to the naming rights. Newspaper reports, television coverage, radio coverage, Sky Soccer Saturday, whatever. I read an article about this in uni and it's very popular in Germany. But yeah, word-of-mouth you can forget it in the short-term at least.

What's the craic with the Council owning the land again? Does that have any bearing on whether the stadium can be renamed? Yes, I'm clutching at straws.

Yep. I was expecting the Hughton thing and hoping against the club coming off the market but the stadium rights thing is just a fucking disgrace. It seems deliberately antagonistic to me. -

What kind of daft company would want to buy the naming rights anyway? They'd make themselves monumentally unpopular and doubtless be on the receiving end of a lot of boycotts. Plus every fucker would call it St James Park anyway. -

Fucking hell. Naming rights bollocks is the icing on the cake. I hate this man. -
Nice edit. I know

Can't for the life of me spot Elijah Wood.

understanding ashleys motives on any decision is an exercise in futility, all i can speculate on the hughton appointment is one of a) he doesn't think this deal is going to happen so is planning for the rest of the season b) attempt to force moats hand a bit by saying hughton is going to be appointed as manager c) the deal will go through and this is to make things that little bit more difficult for moat if/when he's in out of spite d)it was a completely random decision With Ashley, random always seems the best bet. The timing of his decisions are always as insane as the decision itself.

How good is Adam Johnson by the way? I'd only seen glimpses of him to be honest, but I saw the highlights yesterday and he looks a fantastic player. Very intelligent and lots of pace.
