  1. He did brilliantly before spooning it one of those times tbf, but aye needs to score.
  2. Unbelievable what these 2 sides cost in comparison to each other, and the way the game's been played.
  3. Lamela has been at Spurs for 2 and a half seasons, cost them £30m, and has done next to nowt.
  4. Aye they need to do something to make the Europa League important again like. If they're really intent on the Champions League being the be-all-and-end-all then they should do something that makes the Europa League become more of a gateway to that tournament, for example cutting back the automatic league qualification positions (3 maximum in each country) and say that those teams that make the Europa League quarters get a CL 2nd last qualifying round place, semi-finalists get a place in the final qualifying round, and finalists get into the groups (the winner seeded). This would be a way to mix things up and fast track good European teams to the main competition. Spread the money around in other words. And get rid of the group stuff as it's been a disaster, make it a UEFA cup-style knockout competition. Also have the matches on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, let's not pretend many watch on Thursdays anyway. Get it on terestrial TV when the competition has been given more value. Both the group setup and the Thursday kick-offs that are not hyped whatsoever compared to the hype-machine of the CL has made the competition an after-thought. It used to be a big deal, the Cup Winners Cup was a bit of a joke by the end but even that was better than this is. I'd actually prefer a more extreme version of the above where there was a max of 2 qualifiers in each country and the other competition(s) were given more worth, but something like that would be a decent start.

  6. If it's not John Gregory they're not interested.
  7. Exactly, such a nothing game. Clearly due to viewing figures like, same reason they've been on 400 times in a row.

  11. This is what happens when you have tournaments with daft numbers of teams.
  12. He's basically Samuel L Jackson in Unbreakable at this point.
  13. That 90 year-old bloke who died after being blown into a bus was an Arsenal fan who followed them home and away: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-35026367?ns_mchannel=social&ns_campaign=bbc_match_of_the_day&ns_source=facebook&ns_linkname=sport
  14. Perfect "Ah well, we kinda tried" opportunity for us
  15. He's played 2 lots of 90 minutes followed by 2 lots of 60 minutes followed by 2 lots of 0 minutes since your original post, when he was a "very good centre forward" A bit of pace away from being "insane". Those 5 hours changed fucking everything.

  17. Tbh I used to think of avoiding relegation in terms of having stretches of winnable games, but the last few years have seen great escapes where all calibre of opposition have been beaten. Catching sides when they're winding down towards the end of a pointless season is also key.
  18. Glad you managed to catch a good game and result with the considerable effort you took to get to Newcastle for the match
