It looked like we were sailing to victory with not a problem until Pardew started f***ing about with things, the fans were understandably frustrated at the ridiculous decisions they were seeing. The fans have been very supportive and patient this year, home and away. First sign of a few boos after months of watching absolute s**** on the pitch, and the manager's blaming it for the defeat and 2 turbo-s*** youth players are having a pop on Twitter. It's not the sort of thing that breeds good relations between the 2 parties. As I said in my post above, I didn't see the game so I'm going off the Twitter feed. Didn't realise there was more to it than just taking Cabaye off. Hmm OK. Personally if I hadn't seen the match then I wouldn't comment. Amazes me when people do that on here.

It wouldn't surprise me whatsoever. If that is true and he's turned it around on the fans then he's a despicable prick. Not sure we'll ever know for sure. I'm almost convinced Cisse and Colo were fine for Brighton though.

Maybe he's playing the game really well and they're believing him when he says it's all down to injuries.

Having actually heard it it's even worse, it's basically "Pah, they were booing me even though Cabaye was injured, and that didn't help me as the negativity affected those on the pitch so we ended up losing", it's fucking outrageous stuff.

This is very fair comment, whether Pardew was wise to say what he did wasn't what I was talking about. I agree, it was unwise to even talk about the fans. But let's get it in context, it was a throw-away comment in answer to a direct question about fans booing the Cabaye sub. It wasn't an attempt to blame the fans for us losing the game. Not that this post will make any difference to anyone, carry on. Somebody asked. It was an attempt at an excuse and an attempt to make the fans look stupid. Just watching MOTD now and that incident will be discussed in isolation, the Marveaux sub and the change in style of play (i.e. shitting ourselves when we go 1-0 up, at the instruction of the manager) will probably not be mentioned.
  7. Why not him? I don't know loads about him so I'd ask again: why him? Don't see any obvious reason why he's the answer whatsoever, other than him being available.
  8. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with us bringing in an unknown quantity from a foreign league to keep us up. We're in dire straits it would be massively risky. I really want Martin Jol, I don't want anyone else.
  9. Why are people saying Adkins? Finding it very confusing. In a perfect world where NUFC wasn't ran by a couple of muppets, I'd like to see us go for Martin Jol because I've always liked him and think he could do a good job here. Who knows with us though, it's pointless even having this discussion because they'll either stick with Pardew or it'll be someone out of left field like Paul Ince or someone.
  10. This punctuation allergy is spreading fast, I fear it could wipe out our entire species.

Great spot Al. The bit I've bolded is shit isn't it? I'm not sure that he's been in a relegation fight at any club and turned it around. He doesn't say he's successfully dealt with it.

Huh? There was no injury that was clearly apparent. I'm inclined to side with Wullie and not believe Pardew about the injury anyway, I started thinking that's the sort of thing Pardew thinks is fair game when I wasted my time and money going to Brighton only for him to completely short-change me in every possible sense.

Unprecendented? Ben Arfa, Cabaye and Steven Taylor have been injured since mid/late November. That's about it. The fact of the matter is that even when they were all fit, and we had Ba scoring for fun, we were still performing to the same standard that we are now. The same cowardly, negative, anti-football mentality stemming from Pardew was permeating the team a few months ago with Cabaye, Ba and Ben Arfa in it and causing us to play less than the sum of our parts - just like it is at the moment. Cabaye's form was at an all time low for us since he arrived here, Ben Arfa's form had begun to dip quite badly going into November, and Steven Taylor started the season playing like the Steven Taylor of old, i.e. back off like a muppet all the time and effectively hiding all game. The players' confidence had started to dip long before these "unprecedented" injuries started to affect us. Pardew has tried to spin excuses about Europe tiring everyone out and needing more players to be signed, and unfortunately some folk appear to have bought it. But that's just him doing what he does best, something that has enabled him to actually have a decent career as a Premiership manager, i.e. bullshitting so as to deflect attention away from the fact that he can't get a group of relatively talented footballers to play well. He did it at West Ham when he claims he was unfairly sacked after the board forced Tevez and Mascherano on him, and he'll say the same thing if he gets sacked this week, i.e. that the Newcastle board worked against him, didn't bring in who he wanted, etc etc. It needs to be noted that practically every other team in the league, no matter who the personnel or the names (Norwich still have half their Championship sqiad ffs), nearly every one of them either plays better football or functions much better as a team than us. Signing more players (even if needed) or getting Ben Arfa, Cabaye, etc, back fit won't do anything other than paper over the cracks under this conman of a manager. Yep, well said.

He has no right to say it man. It's like a rapist saying "Well she was a bit shouty, it put me off and detracted from the experience to be honest". Christ.

I don't think he's a troll but he sure does make you wonder at times... He at least makes sensible arguments, rather than just talking shit for the hell of it like quite a few on here. I've spoken to a few fans that were at the match today watching that shite and they're absolutely fuming at what Pardew said, and quite rightly so. Ian described that as a "fair comment" and you're defending him.

Nah, bollocks. I'm just catching up with the thread properly and have noticed numerous people leaping to Ian's defence as per the usual. It doesn't matter whether Ian's admitted that Pardew was in the wrong and the fans had a point. The fact that Pardew had the nerve to say that in his interview is absolutely fucking outrageous. He was responsible for the negative atmosphere when he had us playing scrappy nothing-ball after the first goal, brought Marveaux off after an hour and quite rightly the crowd had had it up to their back teeth by the time Cabaye was subbed. It doesn't matter if Ian acknowledged that, he's said "I think that's a fair comment" FFS. The manager is absolutely taking the piss by saying that in an interview, and you'd think he'd want to avoid the subject since it was his total ineptitude that got us to that low point. Instead he used it as another excuse, even though it was of his own doing.

I thought at the time that the fans' reaction would be harmful to the team, I think that's fair comment. It's the double-edged sword of SJP. Obviously it's not an excuse, but it's a factor. Troll. On ignore now. Bye. This, it's quite unbelievable.
  18. Fucking pathetic, this. One of the most incompetent managerial performances I've ever seen.
  19. As much as a lot of people on here have wanted him out for a while, this is the beginning of the end for Alan Pardew at Newcastle. Once the fans turn you'll have a hard job getting them back.
