St James's Park is owned by Newcastle council, and the bids are not from the football clubs, but from the cities, so Newcastle's position does not count, only that of the ground and city facilities. I thought the ground was owned by the football club (well Ashley really) No, he paid for some sort of lease, meaning that the freehold is held by Newcastle city council, and that if NUFC where to ever not exist (god forbid) or move away etc, then the lease would be terminated and Newcastle city council would be left with a stadium.

Will Newcastle Council maintain it if there is no team playing League football on it? I can't see why not, infact their is no reason why a city or town cannot build a stadium for the games with having no permanent tennant, providing like I said the facilities where up to the standards that is required.

Perhaps they aren't selling anymore? Still doesn't take anything away from the fact that before they tried to sell the club again they themselves were trying to get Shearer to come back for the whole season.
-
It will be untrue, if they were going to bring in any manager then it would be Shearer, that is the guy most if not all the parties who are bidding for the club want, and the reason they did not appoint him was because incase they wanted to bring in their own manager, so why would they bring him back?, it would just create a stumbling block to sell the club.

I assume all the balls are the same part from the logo, and of course the black stripe sort of thing may not be black for all clubs. -
I have my ticket from Shearer's testimonial game and also the scarf from that game aswell. For the record I love the back page, I have also heard it's the largest Football memorabilia store in the world, with the greatest selection aswell.

No take over will happen in the next week in my opinion.

It's only said that he's been linked with buying us, and judging how the United and the next word and does not have a space between them, it seems that it's not from a reliable source in anyway, as is the case with wikipedia.

The BBC said before that the Malaysians were here again today, and that they have bid, along with a USA consortium and a local one aswell.

I bet his ban won't be as long as Rio Ferdinhand's who only missed a drugs test, stupid FA.

I don't think it's as simple as just passing over a brief case of money. And if it is, they'll be there for f***ing ever counting £100m. "There you go Mr Ashley. I couldn't get 50s as the bank only had £5's left..." Banks hand out £5?, well not at ATM's in anyway, everytime I go to one I always get £10 notes, even if I take like £100 out, which has been a while because I havn't had that much for a long time now. Anyone got any jobs going?

I don't think it's as simple as just passing over a brief case of money. It was for Ashley.

More media bull, trying to save their own backs, because they have no idea how long it will take, but it will probs be within a month, if not they will just come out with the same headline a month later untill they are right.

Yes it would.

A bid has been made according to the Guardian, I don't read that paper, so don't know weather to take it with a pinch of salt, but it's pretty much no more then what we have said on here. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/jul/04/newcastle-mike-ashley-malaysian-consortium

Interesting to see that 3 of the top 5 threads are about us (including Owen leaving), and that one of the stickies is a t-shirt coverd in every pathetic thing about us getting relegated, basically changing their names to ours with stiuations that they found themselves in not so long ago.

I just hope he signs the day, maye then NUFC won't have to pay another month of his wages.
