Could definitely see Pardew being in favour of a move for Carroll, said only recently how much he likes him. Fits what seems to be his apparant preferred two powerful lads up front gameplan.

Must be really galling for Liverpool to be handing over the reported additional (to the first 30m) payment of 5m for Carroll right about now. Can see it being a catalyst for Llambias to throw in an offer ....ie forget about the 5m you owe us and we'll give you another 10m to have him back!

Demba gives me the impression he's very much his own man. Things couldn't really be going any better for him so I'm confident he's happy and will stay until the summer, by which time the board need to have secured him with a new deal or they will have fucked up bigtime.

Agree. Think the ACN is also helping us this window. Revision of the terms of his contract needed, and a deserved pay rise - or we won't stand a chance of keeping him in the summer in this blistering form.

Had been quite concerned in the build up to the game that the Pardew/Ben Arfa dynamic being played out through the media might be about to infiltrate team spirit and bring our season down, and then the team and manager pulls out a performance like that. Quite amazing really, how things can work out.

His all-round game has been consistently brilliant this season. Never appreciated he could be this good.
