you know I had completely forgotten about that incident. And Hughtons denial of the obvious considering he played the next game with bandages on his hands didn't he?
-
wonder if there will be any punishment from FIFA or UEFA? Those two organisations have a lot to answer for when it comes to the fact racism in football is still a thing considering some of the "punishments" they give out.

pretty damn awful defending that

well thats this tie done with-1-0 chelsea

you know I never quite thought of it that way (god knows why not) but that is perhaps the best description for him and it can be his biggest strength-and weakness, he's was an idealist in a profession (management) which rarely rewards the idealist. His first spell here best football we've probably all seen from nufc but (and this is real what if stuff) maybe a little more pragmatism and nufc win the title and who knows what might have happened then. The way his second spell ended always left me a bit uncomfortable in the sense the given reason for his leaving was a loan signing not exactly end of the world stuff-of coarse that could just have been the convient excuse for a lot of other things he wasn't happy with and lord knows Ashleys probably not the most pleasant guy to work for but I wish he could have just dealt with it and gave it his best shot but he left and the consequences are still felt to this day as that opened the massive faultline on Ashley which has only been exacerbated since.

ones at the top do sure but even then do you think Chelsea or Mourinhio will give a s*** about winning the league cup (if they do) if they cock up the league and go out to psg in the champions league? But they are interested in the Prem and the CL? They are trophies. ones which offer a lot more money Yes i take your point that the league and fa cup are worth fuck all financially but I honestly believe they would want to be the Champions of Europe on merit as well it helps but if hypothetically the champions league was a purely prestige tournament or only had fa cup levels of cash on offer then they wouldn't give a shit about it.

Not worthy of a thread - 2018 FIFA World Cup edition

so basically our one hope to stop FIFAs corruption is the clubs eventually getting sick of putting up with international football and fucking off from FIFA to do their own thing -

Not in the UK for some unknown reason. Thought this one would have been nailed on for tv. maybe the tv executives were worried Fulham would beat Sunderland in the replay? (tv decided before replays)

It's an absolute mess - no chance of the mackems playing their slick passing game on this. Assuming that's why they've left Defoe out? maybe but lets be honest, I doubt Poyet or the Sunderland board are going to be heartbroken about going out while theres a threat of relegation They should be tbh. Great chance of getting another trip to Wembo and even making it to another final this year. I agree but money means a lot more to club hierarchy's especially with the tv deal announcement this week.

I thought you had to have that licence before you could even manage in the PL? you get a pass if your in the middle of getting it I think. I'd wonder why he didn't have it to begin with if he wanted to become a manager considering he's been retired for 10 years

1-0 Bradford-would this actually count as a shock?
-
why in gods name didn't they put the Bradford game on tv
-
oh dear Stoke, 4-1 Blackburn

its reasons like this why I do despise financial "fair" play, theres nothing fair about it since its trying to stop the only way to break up the cozy club as City have demonstrated. As for Southampton, I fear they might try to pull the same trick as last summer (ie sell loads and try to improve again) and it may (probably) will blow up in their face. After all it is in theory to use the money from sales to try to improve but it only takes fucking that idea up once to fall apart and back worse than when you started this process.
-
the difference (for me anyway) is Sissoko (and everyone else on our playing staff) was probably told from day one play well and we'll sell you on to someone further up the pecking order so I don't really hold it against him when its probably the only reason he joined in the first place.

ah the joys of modern football and the byproduct of the champions league. Oh I know there's always been a food chain in football but it seems to have gotten much worse particularly in the last 10 years or so. He's only been at the club for half a season permanently (also not played all that well in that 6 months) and he's already planning his move away good fucking grief.
-
so how long until he rules himself out? Seconds, I hope. On the bright side, if he turned down QPR over personal terms, I seriously doubt he's going to like Randy's idea of largesse better than Tony Fernandes's him going to villa right now wouldn't make much sense to me tbh unless he knows for certain Lerner is selling at the end of the season, otherwise he's walking into a job where he's not given much in the way of resources at all

Janmaat for me. as an all round full back sure easily the best but imho Dummett is just a more solid defender To what extent does 'solid' translate as 'limited'? Haidara and Janmaat offer far more going forward and subsequently push higher up and take more risks. never disputed they offer more going forward (though for the record I think Janmaats a solid enough defender-trust him in a defensive sense a lot more than Debuchy who could be very rash leading to daft situations) but horses for courses, there are times when it makes more sense to play an attacking full back and other times when a more solid defender would be better suited and its the coach/managers job to judge those situations. Of coarse in an ideal world you'd have full backs who can do both very well.
