it is just slightly strange that unable to make the starting squad on Saturday then few days later training ..I am one who feels Townsend could bring something to our side all I was saying it is amazing how players suddenly want to impress when someone new walks in the door ...Who knows what goes on behind the scenes ! Lets hope he is fit enough for Monday because if I was the manager I would pick him hands down !

I think you're underestimating the change a good manager can bring, when Sir Bobby took over from a failing Gullit he turned a massively failing squad around quickly starting with a draw at Chelsea and a massive 8-0 win against relegation rivals Sheffield Wednesday. Granted Rafa doesn't have Shearer to call upon but Shearer was going through a barren spell and finding times difficult until Bobby came in and changed his game, saw the problems and helped him work with the strengths he still possessed, he score 5 that day. Now I'm not saying he's will turn Collback into Makalele overnight or Mitrovic into Shearer but this squad has been badly mismanaged for too long and with the right vision and coaching a lot more can be found from there. You could be right about Ashley, though he does seem to want to spend what the club has available to it and going for Rafa in the first place is a massive step in the right direction and a statement of intent. I hope (there we go with that word again) that this is a new leaf but again he could just as easily pull the rug out from underneath us. We'll see how it pans out but right now I'm enjoying what's happening and I'll revel in the hope that it brings, if those hopes get dashed on the rocks again so be it. nice one

I wonder what he thinks ..I know today the training session this afternoon was a PR exercise ( but it did go down well ) How do you justify a side who got absolutely turned over on Saturday training for three days (mornings) in between a eight game break .... This for me sums up what SMC was all about..... sadly good riddance but sure he may find a job elsewhere ..

where are we in the premier league ? how many goals do we concede compared to all else around us ..I pay for a season ticket every year and have done so for over 30 years ....can I not blame this person for the predicament we are now in ??... people come on here and speak sense I admit but we are in trouble the laughing stock of the PL ! Either on the pitch or off GO and let us try to move on the best we can !! No one is arguing about the situation we are in. It's just calling him a c*** or any other name is just a bit childish, IMO.
