  1. Last 13, but, I get your point. Only one chance of maybe avoiding relegation and that’s if the useless cunt is sacked and a proper manager brought in - not Jones. My mistake but in my defence I can barely bring myself to look at the league table these days!
  2. We currently have the 2 worst full backs in the league by a mile.
  3. Could well need 5 wins from the last 15 if Fulham keep up this run of form and I can't see us getting anywhere near that.
  4. Out of those 3 I'd say Pearson. Think he'd be most likely to get us out of this mess. Howe is almost the exact opposite to Bruce in the way he likes his teams to play amd I don't think he'd have enough time to implement his own ideas and start getting us the results needed to stay up. Wouldn’t entertain Redknapp.
  5. Don't think so. A lot of the long standing fans I know have just been going out of habit for the past few years and now that habit has been broken they aren't about to just run back when they can. That's just people that I know I suppose and they could be in the minority but I've got a feeling they aren't.
  6. There's not really much more to add here. Anyone with any football knowledge knew how this was turning out the minute he was appointed. We are as good as down really. Fulham are playing well, they are playing well and picking up points. A 10 point gap 2 weeks ago is now down to 3 and they have the momentum whilst we've lost 8 in the last 10. We got what was written on the tin when Ashley signed him.
  7. His next of kin, who will have the Ashley genes, will just inherit the club so it'll be same old same old anyway. He's here forever in a roundabout way.
  8. Why? Really? Well yes I get his sentiments but and there’s days I want the fuking lot to burn but I’d rather just stay in the PL if for nothing other that vanity Dunno maybe he’s right One thing I've learnt about Mike Ashley's era is he doesn't give a f*** he'll see us as safe job done with the fans returning no matter whos in the hot seat,IF and it's s big if the takeover is close he knows the closer we sink the more money he'll lose. So yes I'd rather we sink Futher and Futher to see how he plays it replace Bruce the takeover might have legs, keep him and it's the same s*** over n over again As time goes by with the pandemic grinding life to a hault it’s made me realise football isn’t my passion anymore , I’m so fortunate to have saw the signing of Keegan and be there in the middle of the East stand the day he made his debut, be witness to Beardsley, Ginola, Gazza, Shearer , Tino, etc the incredible 90’s , some folk have only known Ashley :'( They haven’t seen us at our best, our very best. Winning trophies is something other teams do, we just love the day and the craic, the songs and the beer . Don’t think we will ever get those days back in my lifetime , I’m 52 . I'm a bit younger than you but pretty much how I feel. Football doesn't hold the same importance for me as it once did. Nowhere near in fact. I'd love this takeover to happen but no way would it even come close to the excitement I had when Keegan arrived as manager. I can barely watch a live game on TV these days, Newcastle or anyone else.
  9. It wouldn't be nowhere near like what it was back then though. Times have changed, and so has your average NUFC fan. Certainly has you wouldn’t get a convoy of lads in transit vans piling down the motorways these days. Our away support was mental, used to be buzzing all week in the lead up to an away day. It was the 92/93 season when I started going to away games regularly with my dad. I would have been 14 at the time and I'll freely admit that some of the things I seen going on back then absolutely petrified me. Our crowd just seemed jam packed full of complete lunatics!
  10. Remember it well. It was my 35th Birthday and the day before my son was born. We were winning 1-0 (Cabaye) and then Reading equalised with about 20 mins left. Pardews response was to take Cabaye off and replace him with Bigirimana. Reading went and scored again almost immediately after the substitution and we lost 2-1. Don't think I've ever been so annoyed at the match. Had a fight with the bloke in front of me cos he was defending Pardew and I ended up getting kicked out by the stewards and had my season ticket confiscated.

  12. Our fanbase was incredible back then. Absolutely loved going to the match in those days!
  13. Aye not surprised. Makes it even worse. I just had 42,000 in my head for some reason. But yeah the point still stands and I’m spot on even if certain people don’t like to hear some home truths. 47.5k there. 3k Arsenal so around 44.5k NUFC fans turned up for Steve Bruce's first home game in charge.
  14. Ah bloody hell, i've never seen that season in full since it happened. I'll watch that later. Srnicek was bloody awful at first Just terrible on crosses Used to play in tracksuit bottoms when he first arrived as well.
  15. Surely these Saudis aren't going to be prepared to stump up over £300m on a football club who have a reasonable chance of being a 2nd tier club in 3 months time? Can't imagine anything could be finalised whilst our league status is in doubt. Just realised I've put this in the positive thread! Apologies!
  16. We competed for the top 10 before Brute arrived and since then he's been given £100m to improve the team. I'm not having it that 4th bottom is our rightful position. The sum of our parts on the pitch is better than 17th. They've proven that. As I said Rafa was a different level. Most okay Premier League managers wouldn't have us competing there normally. Bruce may be terrible still, but he shouldn't judged on how he does compared to Rafa (unless he starts making silly comparisons but that's a different story). He had £100m but £40m was spent on a player the club were desperate to sign for some bizarre reason and was nowhere near that level. Rafa had Rondon and Perez - may have cost next to nothing but we definitely had more goals in that team on paper. We can talk about how we're doing compared to under Rafa and how much money Bruce has had, but is our squad really better than those of Fulham, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Burnley, Southampton, Aston Villa etc? I'd only say Burnley out of those and Fulham, Palace and Brighton are a similar level through having more depth than us. Take away ASM and Wilson for large parts of the season as stated and we have very poor alternatives as well as the poor players in our starting line-up. Rafa didn't have these 2 players at his disposal either. Bruce has had Wilson for the majority and ASM for some of the season. Rafa was also adamant he didn't want Joelinton whereas Bruce seemed more than happy to have him.

  18. He's awful bless him. So far out of his depth as a Premier League footballer it's embarrassing. Yedlin wasn't the best by any means but this lad is a massive downgrade even on him.
  19. I don’t even think we’re sleepwalking to it now, we’ve opened the door up for Fulham. We’re just really lucky that Allardyce wasn’t able to do his usual rescue job. Still think you're fretting over nothing. Once they add on our points at the end of the season for Bruce being a great bloke we should be OK.
  20. But we do though. This group of players were capable of beating teams like Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd by soaking up the pressure and hitting them on the break under the old manager. Even Brute managed it last season v Man Utd and Chelsea.
  21. Wouldn’t be bothered with a Fulham win if it meant that the bigger picture would be rosier. Relegation has never really been a worry for me anyway. NUFC were a 2nd tier team when I started following them and a lot of my favourite memories of following Newcastle have been as a 2nd Division club. I said in another thread on Sunday that the 92/93 season will always be my favourite season ever. Hand on heart how many people can honestly say they've enjoyed us being a Premier League team under Mike Ashley? I mean I don't don't watch the matches on TV anymore I'm that bored of it!
  22. Looks like the penny has finally dropped amongst a fair few pundits and neutrals now that we are in massive relegation trouble. Always amazes me that the so called experts are always so far behind the rank and file supporters in being able to see this.
  23. The Leazes wing of the Milburn Stand was the place to be back then. Full of absolute nutcases but they narve made a hell of a racket! It was great in there back then. IIRC in KKs playing days the away fans would be in the end section of the Leazes, on the other side of the vehicle access bit? Sure i can remember a particularly lively atmosphere v Leeds one day. Think we won 2-1. I later got my 1st S/T in the Milburn centre paddock when Ossie was in charge, Around 1991. Not sure if there still was an East and centre paddock by then or it had been made into one big paddock? Back in 1991 the Milburn Paddocks were lettered from A to E. A and B were towards the Gallowgate End and D and E were the other side of the players tunnel towards the Leazes End. C Paddock straddled either side of the tunnel I think. Then the Leazes End was split into 3 Paddocks ( F, G and H, away fans were allocated H Paddock by 1991) and then the Gallowgate was 4 Paddocks (J which was "the corner", K which was "the Scoreboard", L and M, M was known as "the old man's corner"). It was a dump tbh but I just loved the place!
