He even wrote a song for us. "You've got to be in the Toon Army to be in the Champions League" when we qualified for the CL. -

Haha still remember his "Mungo Mags" flag! Somebody stole my wife, Lady Rose. Classics that would be playing non stop! He even got him to perform for us at The Trafford Park hotel before the Spurs Semi Final. What a day! -
I think a lot of us forgot what this club really meant to us during the dark days of Ashley and him basically hijacking it from us. I'm sat here 3 o'clock in the morning having not got back from the town till 1am just watching all the reaction, Howe's interview, the 2 goals about 50 times each, reading through the match thread on here over and over again and the adrenaline is still pumping through me. I've got to be up for work at 8am. Not going to bed now, won't be able to sleep. Just can't remember the last time I felt like this. Barcelona 3-2 maybe, or the Man Utd 5-0. I'm just totally buzzing. I can't thank our owners enough. They've transformed this club and city into something I never thought I'd see again. Eddie Howe. Can't praise the bloke enough. Took us from relegation certs to Champions League contenders and League Cup Semi Finalists in the space of 12 months. Then there's the players. Have we ever had such a likeable bunch playing for us? They go out there and look like they'd die for this club. I love them all. Finally Wor Flags. They help create the backdrop to all this. They bring the colour and the magic to the stands. They appealed to the crowd tonight and the crowd gave an amazing respone. Our owners love them, the players love them. I love them! NUFC man. What a club.

The interchanges between him and Willock were incredible to watch. Leicester just didn't know how to deal with it. Bruno probably the best player on the pitch for me as he just totally controlled the game but Willock/Joelinton were a joy to watch. And you're right, the amount of ground they can cover is unbelieveable. Just pure athletes.

It was epic tonight. Obviously the players need to perform on the pitch first and foremost but clearly they were given a huge lift and helping hand when they came out to that sort of reception and little wonder they came flying out the blocks. Hope Sky done it justice (they probably didn't) because it was an incredible sight. -

He started going back when Ashley left, although not straight away. Took a few months into the new ownership. Looks like he was there tonight and in the East Stand near where he used to sit going off the photo he took of the flag. We travelled regular with Toon Travel from 1994. No doubt I'll know your face! -

Good to see Keith Barrett, who the original flag belonged to, comment on it on Facebook tonight. -
Usually a 2pm Sunday kick off against Fulham would be a right atmosphere killer, but it shouldn't be this time!

I just love everything about the club right now, and these lads as much as anything. It's like I'm dreaming it all. -
Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 Newcastle United (07/01/2023)

Very surprised to hear about the problems the fans faced on Saturday. The allocation was only 4,500 even though the stand has 7,000 seats and I went there a couple of times in the late 90s when they were still allowing 7,000 in there and it never felt unsafe. Dated yes, but not unsafe and we had zero issues. The only thing I can think of is that back then the away end would fill up gradually from 90 mins before kick off as the atmosphere inside the stadium would build whereas now people seem to prefer to stay in tne concourses much later to sing/drink and the away end fills up rapidly in the 15 mins prior to kick off. -

Newcastle United never ever do anything the easy way so this won't happen! -
He's reported to be on £100k a week. If that's the case he's going nowhere unless we heavily subsidise his wages and that's not really a road we want to be going down.

Can't believe how worried/worked up I'm getting over this tonight. I wasn't even like this before the 2 FA Cup finals, probably cos I knew we'd lose them both but still, hard to believe I'm 45 years old and this is without a doubt the best chance we've ever had of getting to a League Cup Semi Final in my Lifetime. Please just win. -
The younger supporters did with his exploits in the likes of Blu Bambu etc. I think you'll find many the older generation were always a bit suspicious of him. Certainly my dad and his mates were and I still remember to this day being in the Three Bulls when Keegan was announced as returning as manager we were playing Stoke at home and the words I heard most from them were "publicity stunt". I will admit however that I was excited as were plenty others that night but my recollection was that it certainly wasn't universal.

So he gave you your longest unbroken top flight spell since the 50s, saved you from going bust and let's not forget 6 in a row marra. All things considered he was a very good owner for Sunderland. Yes for most of the time you were towards the bottom but that's still better than Sunderlands historical natural position. I think you've only had 3 top ten top flight finishes in the last 65 years.
-
What absolute nonsense you've posted on here tonight. Incredibly this latest piece isn't even at the top
-
You literally said on page 403 that this is "exactly the same craic as RTG" and that this place "just all seems like RTG to me like". If that's you not saying the 2 boards are comparable then that's fair enough but you should be able to see how people could make that conclusion.
-
I didn't misread anything. You said this place is like RTG and I corrected you and gave some good examples of why it isn't, but still you dig
-
He made himself popular by sacking Allardyce and bringing back Keegan. It lasted a few months then his true colours emerged which caused the change in supporters mood. He didn't invest a penny of his own money in the club. He bled it dry. Ellis Short ploughed in 100s of £millions of his own cash into Sunderland to give them their longest unbroken top flight run in the top flight since the 1950s. He deserved more appreciation. The 2 owners don't compare in terms of their investment or intentions.

Any need for this type of antagonism?? What makes you think I was referring to you?

It's just as bad on here apparently
